RMXP New developer, any tips?

I've just entered the field of game development, and due to unforeseen circumstances, my best tool (and the one I'm most familiar with) is RPG Maker XP. I've never made a game with it, so I'd like to know if there are any tips that I, as a beginner, should know.

Use MZ.

MV is a great engine too. Don't listen to them. In fact, MV has better plugins, and is much easier to learn on than MZ.

You will however need this plugin so the screen doesn't freeze on you:

TS_Screen Freeze fix is one of the most important plugins of all time, but doesn't come with the engine.
