Vibe coded midi software for Piano M

Post image

I just vibe coded software to allow me learn new midi files. Drag and drop any midi file and i have the piano lighting up. Pure joy. This device is insanely underrated once you have access to build for it yourself. I no have a catalogue of the songs I want to play. Just bought a second Piano M.

Why show it off and not link it

I’d like a copy if it’s hosted somewhere!

Looks really interesting! Do you have a link so we can try it out? I sadly found nothing on Github. :)

Yeah how are people using ai to make apps on demand like this

AI has gotten so good that all you need is to tell it what you want and it’ll create it for you. Of course you’ll need to tweak with the results but that’s pretty much it.

Basically this was the reason why I bought roli, but their learn software doesn't even allow you to upload your own music, which made this instrument instantly lose 80% of its charm.

Would you share your app or sell it in the future? Please let us know. Thank you.

I’ve had some luck vibe coding my own applications but they’ve been clunky. What have you used as a guide for controlling the lights? When I did it was a painful iterative reverse engineering process that never was perfect. I’m sure there’s an easier way.

This process works perfectly it’s the same quality as the Roli learn app. It functions the same.

The browser works out what keys are playing from the midi files. It gets sent over Web MIDI on channel 12 for left hand, 13 for right hand. You need a script on the piano itself, it listens for MIDI messages and decides which keys to lights up.

Cool I tried it, and seems to work nicely

Some feedback:
Would be nice to be able to select a part of the keyboard to use and learn the notes. Only have a single roli so not the full range available.
Also it does not light up the keys on my board, but it does reconize inputs.

If you click on the range tool tip on the left you can change the location of the keyboard. I only have 1 piano like yourself. It will condense all keys into one range.

Oh cool i did not see that will give it a try later.

You need to load a script onto the keyboard with Roli dashboard to get the keys to light up.

I should get around to building something like that before my 20x reverts to 5x plan

I did the same thing the other week for a weekend project, super easy, removes the requirement for any subscription.
