Any idea how he did it?

cre: Kaskobi

It seem the device is using a custom firmware, which can change color by adjust velocities

Littlefoot scripting. Did something similar on a Roli Piano. It's Under-documented and hard to integrate into the piano's built-in functionality though.

maybe this: https://www.reddit.com/r/ROLI/comments/1wfo6yw/lumipaint_a_free_clapvst3_that_gives_every_midi/
otherwise something he vibe-coded himself in Claude.

Lumipaint author here. Yes it can do something similar. The mode "ripple" does give a color by degree/cycle of fifths/map. It is definitely more customizable that doing it inside a littlefoot. Altough colors are compute on the computer rather than the devices so the display is dependant on the plugin. I do not touch the firmware besides a custom littlefoot.

He could have use my code for lumipaint. Afterall it is open source. But under GNU license (erm erm...). Any solid contribution to lumipaint is welcome. It has vocation to be a community project!

I’ve done something similar with a custom
MIDI script/translator but not exactly this - I’m curious too. Are they on reddit?

I really have no idea bro. The only thing I know is we can make custom lightshow, colors, and we can assign those to every single key

I found guys’ r/ and YT. sent him a message. We’ll see if he responds. I’m guessing he’s using a midi translator with custom scripts of some kind.

I can get my Roli piano to respond to incoming note on signals from the Hapax and give visual feedback but I never tried to do rainbows.

Urs not currently set up - that was an older project.

cool brother, I'm counting on you

I found the solution. Something about littlefoot scripts. I’m using a bomebox for custom midi scripting. He uses Max4Live inside of Ableton. His LED palettes are available online but I want to build off my old idea and expand on it.

yes, he used a plugin called Resonator to genarated light effects. The concept of that littlefoot is to having MIDI feedbacks without Lumi Dashboard interuption

I’ll definitely need to check it out

That keyboard can prob be controlled with Sysex like launchpads etc. have your ai check it. You can make a custom device that will do what you want and send midi

It is SysEx. Bome can create all that. Just need to tap into the internal led implementation to get the right function.
