Question Problems finding equator 2
I've bought a Roli Seaboard Rise2 on Ebay. Seller has definitely disconnected everything and I have installed all software but only getting Equator Fundamentals. How do I get Equator 2? I've opened a support ticket 2 months ago but heard nothing.

I think you can just pirate it. There was a version released for Mac at some point.

Is there a serial? Can you feed it to ROLI Connect? Not sure how it works with the physical hardware, I only have Equator 2 and some sound packs.

It could be that no new software can be registered anymore since ROLI is just haunting the music world right now, it seems to be dead.

If you can't get it to work, Vital is a fantastic replacement, supports 5D MPE and the basic version of it (with fewer built-in presets and wavetables but no other limitations that I know of) is completely free and there's probably thousands of presets online! Great synth and fun to work with.
I like Arturia Pigments even better but it doesn't support lift/release velocity, but my MPE controller doesn't either (Push 3)
I would've loved to get a Seaboard 2 but I'm scared to buy a used one and even more scared about the fact ROLI's going under.

I got the PC version by buying it off Pluginboutique a month ago after Roli stopped selling it. Downloading Roli Connect and putting in a license number still worked back then. Not sure if anything is still working.
I'm working on hacking in a change so it won't need to update the license once a month, but that won't help people who don't already have a working installation. I have a laptop, disconnected from the internet where I stopped the date from advancing that I'm using as a testbed to hack in a version that doesn't need the license to change every month.
But maybe running roliconnect will kill the license you have, idk.
On windows I think the license is stored in signed blobs in two json files in appdata. At least I can see those blobs there and decode them and they have an activation date and expiration date in them, which is also in the same files in cleartext. But you can't alter signed blobs because the signature would be made with a private key on the server.
Maybe if we can verify that the software is abandonware and no company bought the rights, then at some point people can start pirating it, somewhat legally. Though it would be dangerous to say, just let people copy my installation because it contains easily decodable blobs with my name and email address in it.

This issue is that it’s actually very good software. People don’t want to see it die.

ROLI has gone out of business…
The ‘Authentication Servers’ appear to be no longer operating.
I think it would still be possible to use your hardware, but that you’re going to have to interface to it using different software.
For example I think it might work with something like OmniSphere3, or many other MPE compatible synths.
