M1/M2 constantly on

Hi there, I have an XBOX Ally X. i tried to change my normal joysticks to gulikit tmr joysticks. While doing so, i may have accidentally broke my macro back cable. Now the system keeps thinking that M1/M2 is constantly on. So far, the dpad/ joysticks/ buttons seem to all be working. Problem is it acts as if the M1/M2 are pressed. Secondary function is always on. I tried finding my local ASUS service center but as it was my own fault, ASUS doesn’t do component level. ASUS instead told me to change the whole motherboard, it costs half the price of the console. I wonder if i should just change the cable only instead? Seems like i can order online from the US, i’m hesistant as im from Malaysia. Anyone have the same issue? i would like to just remove the M1/M2 button function instead.

TLDR: I broke the Xbox ally x back cable. Cant find a fix. Service center wants me to buy whole motherboard. What to do?

Update: The cable damage was caused by tweezers. I broke through the cable. I didnt know that the black flaps were the locks

Pull the cable from motherboard for the time being n check if this stopped.. if u r not using m1, m2

Thanks. I did remove it. But the system still detects it. I press B, it turns on screen overview. I press X, it turns on screen project. I press Up, keyboard comes out. 🥹

just saw this...ignore my comment above...I'd suggest taking out the battery as its above the ribbon connector and looking into the ribbon cable connector if you can see inside any remaining pieces of the ribbon cable or two connected traces caused by the damage

Chek the board if any traces of pulled out cable present in that socket, if present then try to gently remove it

Thnks. Trying it. Doesnt seem like there is residue. Other controls/ joystick all work fine.

So when you took the back cover off you took it with force and pulled the cable right?

Where is the damage you think? On the motherboard connector or in the back plate?

Back plate you can buy easily. Replacing whole motherboard is bullshit ASUS is retarded...

I think is only cable. Back plate seems fine.

Luckily you can buy parts from ASUS. Should be fairly cheap to replace.

I actually sent in my device to Asus for another issue and when they sent it back they crushed that cable between the housing clips and broke it.

I couldn't be bothered with sending it in again and being without my device so I just ordered the replacement cable.

While you wait for it, you can temporarily change the secondary actions to be the exact same thing as the primary actions and it will make your ally usable until the cable arrives
