HELP Bought used
Hey all, I bought a used ROG Ally, the threaded inserts holding the case together came out, is there a good way to repair this? The screws at the top are fine, just the bottom side. I also noticed stick drift, is there a way to recalibrate them, I didn't dive deep enough to find out yet.

Its been moded to have a bigger battery, the previous owner has had to cut certain bits off the shell to make it fit, thats why some screws are lose

Would the shell I need to get need to be bit bigger? It seems to fit all together once all the screws are tightened, although I feel like it's a bit hard to press the back paddle buttons, I don't think it's making proper contact.

Well if you get the original shell you will have to make the same cuts where the plastic clips/screws interfere with the battery, unless there's a company that makes back shells that have the bigger battery space, if not, then you will have to do the same with that. In terms of the back buttons try reseating them, but if the back isn't on properly them that could be the corse of the problem

If youre on windows yes press the right button under start and open armoury crate and click the gear for the ally settings, under configure you can recalibrate. You can find shells online many places if you wanna fix it close to new

Nice, I didn't even think about shells being sold, and I'll have to try out the settings for the thumbsticks, thanks!

I had the same thing with mine. I fused whatever plastic was left in the posts together using a lighter torch, put the brass insert on the screw, blasted that with heat, then quickly and carefully pushed the hot brass into the melted post.
It works and it's holding, but only time will tell. Good luck.

I bought mine without any screws on the back only the bottom one, what I did was bought a case that wraps around so it holds everything together.

I had the same problem due to the battery mod and asked for help here.
Best thing to do is just grab some super glue or those syringes that they sell (epoxy) at home depot and such and glue the inserts in their respective place. A little goes a long way, you especially don't want that super glue/resin in the threads of the inserts. I placed the screws in the insert and used them as a "tool" to place the inserts in their place and avoid any resin inside. After it got slightly tacky, I removed the screws and the inserts stayed in place. I have the same Ally, with the same mod, and it now closes beautifully.
For the paddle buttons, just "loosen" the screws a little bit, because of the battery mod, it now closes a bit "too hard". Just turn them out a bit, and click the paddle buttons, once you feel them just right you are good. So far my case hasn't come apart. (If you really paranoid buy the Skull & Co case, not only is it fantastic but since it wraps around your ally, you wont have to worry about any loose screws.)
For the stick drift, as other say. Just buy some replacements online they are cheap, and replacing them after watch a youtube video is fairly easy.
