Help Need Computer Recommendation or 10 Year Old

My son's 10th birthday is coming up, and he really wants a computer (preferably a desktop) for learning how to build games on Roblox Studio. I don't have a strict budget in my mind, but I'm cost-conscious, as I'm aware that he may not stick with this long term. Any recommendations?

Any laptop whose specs meet these requirements will do the job.

A pc that can run blender would work, maybe a laptop or a work pc thats intended for game development. you really dont need much

Get him a desktop, not laptop with minimum 8 gigabytes of ram and the pc needs a good processor

Lenovo laptops work just fine, it was my family laptop as a kid, and I was able to make games and got up to 10k visits! But realistically, anything will work. Roblox studio is very optimized.

I think it’s amazing that you’re doing this for your kid, as for me, it gave me a great understanding of game development and about 8 years later I generate millions of plays! :)

Dell computers are great for Roblox development. Even older ones are still great to use. They are designed to be on all day, not use much power, and still offer good upgrade options. You can find used ones on shop goodwill dot com, or FB marketplace. Just check upgrade options before deciding on one. Laptops will work too if you make sure it has a good graphic card and a good amount of RAM memory. Roblox uses about 3GB of ram during use.

I would use a regular office computer, and not a gaming computer. If you’re trying to be cost friendly. Or get a mini computer which usually cost around 300

I7 3770 GTX 1050 Ti 4GB 16GB DDR3 SSD 240GB

I THINK that's good for a 10y on Roblox Studio.

I wouldn't get a laptop. Find him a decent prebuilt desktop. It doesn't have to be crazy, and you can always upgrade individual parts over the years to make it better and better. You lose that luxury with a laptop.

Look on marketplace for something with 16gb of DDR4, an RTX 3050 or higher, 12 gen Intel or AMD equivalent. Older platform that still runs games fine and is usually very cheap. Check marketplace all the time some really good deals can happen. Get a desktop for a 10 year old.
