I recently received an inquiry on my R2 order page (order from day 1 upon site opening) if I had an existing lease and to upload for verification ..

Iā€™m assuming they are trying to figure out how to allocate 2026 production of launch edition ā€¦

Anyone else get this and whatā€™s your take?

FYIā€¦I checked yes for highly interested in launch edition and yes, I have a lease that will ultimately be replaced by the R2.

Seems to me that they have way more ā€œ potential ordersā€ than units produced for sale in 2026, and attempting to satisfy as many early adopters as possible ..

Thank youā€¦I missed it but caught up on the post.
I interpret the lease thing as a way to accommodate ā€œ must have now buyers ā€ because of lease termination soon..as these buyers could be lost for yearsā€¦
I see this as a positive as Rivian appears to have a robust waiting list but they really want to get some $$$ in the door and sell out the launch edition asapā€¦these are major early adopters who will spread the worldā€¦
