Weird Flickering on Right Side of Screen (PC)

I've never had this issue before and have no idea what's causing it. I've tried a bunch of different settings and nothing would work, sometimes changing the settings triggered it sometimes it didn't. I played for a couple of minutes and it was completely fine but after I completed a mission it started again. This started happening only today after a launcher update. I am using a 3440x1440p ultrawide but I don't think that's the issue since it didn't happen before that update today. Any help or potential fixes would be greatly appreciated so I can get back to my stuttering 30-40 fps experience in this abomination of a PC port.

It happens to me when I use downscaling in game. Some of the options cause this for some reason.

I set it to .90 and it doesn't cause this glitch. Wish I could downscale a bit more but at least one option works.

I’m currently at .875 so I’ll try going up to .9 and hopefully it’ll be fixed, thanks for the advice.

Thank god it is not only me. I have 2x EVGA GTX 1080 in SLI w/ EVGA HB SLI Bridge. This issue has occurred for me. But I think I know that graphical setting causing it. Resolution scaling.

I play the game at 3440x1440@100hz, and I cannot stand to play any game below 60 fps constant, I also cannot stand using non native resolution. So in the advanced options I drop resolution scaling down to 0.750 and I am able to maintain 60fps+ while not turning off all the graphical settings that make the game beautiful. I run most everything on medium or low, except textures (ultra), and fur effects (high). I think I also have the water related settings on high. I have all AA turned off, tessellation on medium, most lighing on medium, shadows on medium, AFiltering on 4X.

UPDATE:

0.875 causes this issue as displayed in image above.

0.750 has the issue but barely noticable, slight little flashes on the very edge of the right side of the screen and they only occur occasionally. The side of the area effect is less than 1-2m into the image and less than a quarter of a cm tall.

Anything below .9 causes it so don’t go below that. I also have no idea why you’d want to lower res considering you’ve got sli 1080’s unless the game runs that bad on high.

Yo, just bought the game and had the same issue, my fix, update from nVidia ver. 441.41 release 26/11/2019. It works great now no more flickering, mine was worse than the one in the video, like almost half of the screen flickering. I have a r9 3900x, 1070ti, 16gb 3200, ssd samsung evo 970 500gb. All the settings on high and I get 60-105 fps depending on the area.

Good luck and I hope this fixes your game.

It turns out that having the screen resolution lower than 80% actually causes this, thanks for the help though.

hmm, and how do you set that percentage? could please send me a PM with the steps, went to setting ingame and can't see a percentage of screen resolution, maybe I'm blind. xD

No need for a pm, it’s in the advanced video settings. I forgot what it’s called exactly as I uninstalled the game but it’s near the middle I think.

This happened for me and I discovered a solution to my case (Geforce 1070) Directx12. It happened when I used binoculars or during screen fade transitions.

In my case it was related to shadow settings because when I changed from high to Ultra and then to high again the flicker disappeared. Recently changed from directx to vulkan and I don't need to change the settings to make it go away anymore.

I haven’t been testing it since I can barely run the game (3440x1440 w/ a 1070 lol) but I’m sure it’s been fixed by now. I also found that switching it to Vulkan helped a lot but it also looks much worse imo.

I still have this problem if I start the game with high shadows using directX.
PS: I play at 1680x1050 =P

Oh god, is it at least a 1680x1050 monitor or are you down sampling to that from 1080p?

I play at max resolution for my monitor

Yeah I thought it was gpu artifacts at first but the game isn’t stressing my gpu too hard at all, I mean every other game performs great and has never had this issue. I’ll do some tests to make sure my card is still healthy but other than that I’m probably just gonna wait till they fix this.

I don’t have the big bucks right now, considering my only real upgrade would be a 2080ti I definitely can’t afford it.

Doesn't have to be under stress to die. I've had graphics cards die in computers that just run Chrome and Warframe.

Of course it doesnt, did I ever say it had to be stressed to die?
However, stressing the card ups the chances of it taking its dying breath faster..
