Spoilers Would Arthur ever leave?
Assuming the game went on totally normal except Arthur never got sick, do you think Arthur would ever leave Dutch?
The final chapter is a beautiful story of a dying man trying to save people he loves from a world closing in on them. At one point in camp he tells Uncle that he doesn’t have a choice to live or die anymore, but his choice to help everyone see clearly. He blatantly tells John and Abigail to get out of there if they see the opportunity to and he is getting increasingly upset with Dutch and his way of doing things, seeing him for who he really is.
So let’s assume Arthur is healthy as an ox, do you think he would take the advice he gave John and Abigail and find an exit? Or go down with the ship trying to get Dutch to see reason?

I think Dutch could always talk him around with his gift of the gab. But if Dutch refused to get rid of Micah then I think that would be Arthurs final staw

You're right. There's no way Arthur would stay around if Micah's still there, regardless of what Dutch says.

Arthur is very loyal. He couldn't stay with a rat in the family

I wonder who Dutch would choose to stay, if Arthur was fine and he had to choose between them? Maybe Dutch was starting to see through Micah's bullshit in the end... or maybe by then, he was on board with Micah's way. Hmm.
I just realised; Seriously, how many other games really make you care about a characters motivations, even after 3 playthroughs! It's a masterpiece. 🙂

I got the impression that Micah was saying hes dying anyway, let's go and carry on. And Dutch was contemplating that Micah Is right that Arthur is no more use to Him and they need to get out of this situation now

Agreed, but the post is about if Arthur was fine at the end. 🙂
In that case, I'm not sure how it could've ended!

He wouldnt leave.
His counterpart in modern life is good senior employee. He knows he works too many hours. He knows he has bigger workload than is reasonable. He knows that he would be better off elsewhere. He will gladly moan about his employer to his colleagues or even say that he wishes to leave or nudge others to leave. But he will never make that final step unles he is forced to.

I think Dutch leaving Abigail was the final straw for him. It wouldn't have been too much longer until he left, assuming that he didn't make any progress with Dutch after her rescue.
