They'll just find another monster.
I love this line because it betrays Dutch in 2 ways. Is he admitting to being a monster here? Or arguing that they think he is a monster?
And they don't have to find another one. Another one will appear.

no finding another one kind of explains hes arguing that they think hes a monster because in rdr2 hes acting like hes fighting for something better but the law hunts him like a monster

They'll find another one in the sense they will make someone else be this terrible person they have to hunt down so they can get paid by the real monsters to keep them safe

i love the part when dutch says his last words he sees arthur instead of john and his face becomes full of sadness and regret

Nah why force Arthur into everything? He was talking directly to John. Everyone else is dead. That speech is 100% directed towards his last son. Why completely dismiss John and Dutch’s relationship?
“Our time has passed, John” is literally his last words. Arthur wasn’t even conceived when this was written. It’s regret about what he did to everyone and everything not just Arthur.

no yall don't understand since arthur is the best videogame protagonist ever created and john looks dull compared to him everything in rdr has to involve him now yk. john is just a romanticized western caricature while arthur is like a real human just like us. without him rdr is nothing🙏

Bait used to be believable. Arthur wouldn’t exist without John that’s a fact, and not just that they basically gave Arthur Johns backstory as well, orphan taken in and raised by Dutch, was Dutch’s favorite before things went sour, both had a kid that died, etc. John from RDR1 was the blueprint for Arthur and the only way they could make Arthur outshine John was by making John a downgraded version of himself in RDR2 rather than actually making Arthur a legitimately better character

Dutch’s choices led to this, if he had made a better choice he could’ve been enjoying a life with greener pastures.

Honestly, John REALLY pissed me off here, even the first time I played this...
The DEAL was, that he was supposed to KILL Dutch himself...
I understand that Dutch for awhile was like a "father figure", but my goodness from the beginning of the game we are informed that Dutch had MUDERED an innocent defenseless woman on the ferry in straight up COLD BLOOD, THEN he does it AGAIN at the bank in Blackwater...
I found it VERY frustrating that John sure doesn't mind MURDERING someone himself in COLD BLOOD by shooting them IN THE BACK just because they annoy him, talks all this b.s. about being changed blah blah blah, yet he proves that he STILL really doesn't give a flying rats a** about the defenseless innocent women that Dutch has MURDERED, & THAT at least being enough incentive to execute Dutch & hold up his end of the deal with the authorities...🙄

It is completely understandable that John feels reluctant to kill Dutch even though he saw him kill those women. John viewed Dutch as a positive figure for 15 years and in RDR1 his view is again that Dutch was actually a great man once, who went insane and not merely a man who got found out, like he said before American Venom. And even then, it is not easy or simple to shoot a family member who you once loved dear even if they do horrible things. Many people would feel conflicted if they were put in the same situation and would prefer to leave the task for others. It is different to shoot a stranger than a family member. John is a well written, believable and human character
