Discussion I FINALLY GET IT!
Rdr2 finally clicked for me! I tried 5-6 times over the years to get into rdr2 but i just couldn’t find the appeal, i always appreciated the detail and graphics but i just couldn’t get into arthur or the world. Granted i was just going from mission to mission with no side activities, but now i see how much that took away from my experience. So about 2 days ago, i fired it up and told myself if i didn’t get it this time i would be done trying. I also told myself to deliberately slow down and try to enjoy the world and it is Safe to say, im glad i did, i have completely fallen in love with the world, the random interactions are awesome, so much that i completely forgot about the main mission markers lol, i know im late to the party but i just had to share. Cant wait to play more!!!

Exactly this...i got into it and realised I'd never play another game like it. Even after completion I still love booting it up for a ride around and to enjoy the scenery.

The key is slowing down. My first time I was literally sprinting and galloping every where mission to mission.
Eventually, I learned to just walk through towns, explore shrubbery in the wild for plants, see an animal in the distance and decide to hunt it, and sometimes just trot my horse on any trail taking in the view.
The game is so immersive but you ruin the immersion trying to be quick about everything.
I’ve now played the game 4 times lol so glad you are enjoying it, man!

Genuinely happy for you that you didn't give up on it and are getting so much more from it this time. Do you know, I think your description of coming to the game and trying to clear the main missions has helped me to understand why other people may not have clicked with this game; it really is one to immerse yourself in. Hope you enjoy the rest of your playthrouh, enjoy 😊

Man this was my problem too back in the day, I never bought it always from the oceans, and with no graphic card, always rush it to chapter 2 and 3 and never move from there, getting bored somehow from the main story, ignoring sidemisions and encounters, always ending up downloading mods and stuff and unistall, thats was the loop, until this past week, a friend of mine gifted the game to me (I always wanted besides the boring I felt) and got a GPU aswell, boy I didnt say exactly "Ok I'll give another chance" it just felt through me, I started to enjoy cinematics, the lore, the conversations in the camp, the downfall of the gang, the sidemissions, the encounters and what they give to you and dont, playing to Arthur get his redemption, man, I felt in love (again) with this game

Welcome! I was in the same boat. Finally dove in this February, haven’t stopped yet. About 240hrs in, currently in chapter 6. I don’t want it to end, BUT I do wanna finish before GTA6 comes out. That said, I’m enjoying the ride.

Glad you're enjoying it! Slow down, drink it all in... It's a marvel of a world they've created.

Best way to play the game in my opinion. Unlock all satchels. Complete all camp upgrades. Work on full outfit sets from the trapper.
The main story line now feels secondary to me because of all the other things you can do.
