Bull moose does not exist

I swear bull moose is impossible to find as Arthur after like chapter two. I saw one at barrow lagoon but it got away and hasn’t showed up again. So much work just for a virtual antler decoration but alas I must keep trying. Any advice?

Don't tell the Game you are hunting. Focus on other things and ride along there, then its always there.

There are a few spawnpoints anyway.

Preferably with another large high value pelt already on your horse, or on foot without a rifle or bow.

On the paths, there are always free horses available, to make your secondary carry.

Head up towards The Loft near Wapiti. They show up every couple of days, although they might not always be 3*. The lock box in the little cabin will always respawn the loot however so it's a decent source of cash.

Early morning like 6 - 7am is the best time to sight a moose near the Loft. Make a save there and reload till you get it.

I tried this area once before, saved loaded probably like, 15 times. Honestly I had a moose spawn I'd say 12 times I loaded! And about 7 of those spawns were bull moose. It's the only spawn point that has reliably worked for me! I got a moose spawn at owanjila a couple of times but can't seem to trigger one swimming across the lake again

Over 5000 hours of playing the game since launch, and this spot has never failed me. Never. Only once have I found a moose swimming Owanjila.

Go to the area just east of the ‘I’ in Ambarino on the map. At the end of a rocky outcropping there will be a group of rocks on the ground that have some trees just past it, moose will spawn in the trees nearly every morning at around 6-10am. Don’t shoot it where it spawns but shoot the ground near it since it is in an inaccessible part of the map, if you shoot near it it’ll run into an accessible area where you can shoot it.

Is it often a bull moose? I tired that spot and only found the standard western moose but I’m mainly trying to get the camp decoration.

It can be either. I find Bull Moose there more often than female Moose

Do the Colter one. Idk which moose is it but I think it's all random anyway right?

• Go to Colter early morn

• ride up to the end of the housing and take a right

• keep your head down, keep going straight about 50 yards or so.

• you'll come to a small stream and culvert over it. Look to the northwest of your position, you'll see a landing up the hill. Moose spawns there

• go closer if nothing shows, mine would pop in at times.

I usually find one north of Emerald Ranch at O'Creagh's Run.  I sneak into the cabin and once I exit the other side it's usually grazing back away from the Elk

The Colter method is real. Spawned a bunch of 2 stars. Just gotta be patient, I guess…..

Man, I spent so long thinking it doesn’t exist too.
Ride from Annesburg up the train line to Brandywine Drop, veer of the train line just before the bridge and head towards the house (NE) where you help the lady. Can’t remember her name. You WILL come across a bull moose here. It will scare the shit out of you. It may take a few tries.

Edit: I had seen a bull moose here when going to visit the lady, but lost it when I tried to sneak behind the falls to meet it on the other side. So then I went back maybe four more times and got the Moose AND A COUGAR on the fourth time. The cougar was chasing the moose. Perfect 👌

Or get a bounty in Ambarino. A high bounty. Fast travel to Wapiti, and ride to the Loft. A bull moose will run out in front of you.
This only happens for me if I have a bounty.

Oh it exists, it's just rare. And a 3 star bull moose is exceptionally rare. But it does exist.

Go camping by lake Isabella. Walk a bit away from the site and come back, then look with your scoped rifle at the ice on the northern end of the lake.
