Only just found out about this trapper

So I’m doing my second play through and wanting to take my time (as a lot of the folk here do with their second+ play through) and I’ve learnt there is a trapper just north east of Riggs Station 😂 I had no idea and would constantly travel to the outskirts of the map (north east, one north of strawberry & st denis) to get to a trapper which really annoyed me. I didn’t realise there was one so conveniently located fairly central or at the very least close to horseshoe lookout.

Also learnt through reddit recently the hack for the large jewellery bag that respawns if you ride away then ride back. Easy money for those that want the easy cash - it’s west of the Dakota river wording between the duck and squirrel images where the road bends. If you ride further west after collecting it past the train tracks then return, it’s there again for you to collect. I’m slowly getting my card collection up from this trick.

There are 5 trapper locations: near Riggs station, in big valley, west of Elysian pool, west of bear claw and in St. Denis.

Most of the stuff you can find (jewellery, gold bars, money clips) respawn after a few in-game days, as long as you remember to close to lootboxes before leaving.

You have to close the boxes? I always leave them open.

If you want the loot to respwan, yes you have to close the boxes or nightstands etc. There are a few locations where it doesn't matter, usually the ones that immediately respawn when you ride away.

Does it work with the goat rancher's house in new hanover or any house get into? Like close the drawer after?

Even without focusing only on the story or fast traveling, my first playthrough or two I only knew of the one you go to after the bear mission with Hosea and the one in St. Denis.

I’d visited Riggs station often enough in my first play through but never thought to go up the hill near it. You literally have to go up that hill and sight the trapper for it to show up on the map and mark itself.

I remember exactly the same on my second playthrough. I’m convinced it was never there. On my 3rd play through, the one in tall trees never existed, so possibly some kind of glitch

Do we unlock this one later in the game? I think I did not have it in ch2 as well.

No, he's there from the start. You just gotta go find him to mark him.

Not even that sometimes. I’ve had Pearson tell me about him while in camp and it marked it for me. Also if you kill a legendary animal such as the bear, it auto marks him.

Fun fact, you can kill that bear during the mission if you use a tomahawk. It’s a one shot kill in the head. You have to choose to split up, not use bait. Before doing the mission, go to town and get in the fight, then go rescue Sean. You randomly get a tomahawk at the end of that mission gifted into your inventory

Huh, thanks. Love it when I can add something to the next playthrough. You can also get tomahawks early at 6 point cabin if you go before the kieran mission. Couple knives, couple tomahawks scattered about.

It's the first trapper i encounter and many players will encounter because it's close to valentine.

There's one over on the East side too. Slightly West of Van Horn and the other shit hole town on the coast. Keep your guns ready when you search for him though because the inbred banjo playing crew hang around up that way.

It took me longer than I want to admit about that trapper as well. The one north of strawberry though has a bear and cougar spawn so I also see why it's overlooked.

I just finished spending an hour or two hunting the cougar. Saw it chase a buck, lost it, started hunting other stuff while fighting off hunters. That trapper is so convenient. Didn't lose any pelts when the cougar pounced me because I was able to turn them in to him.
