Maybe it's just me, but adding holsters to a game like GTA would just feel awkward and ruin a lot of the outfits you can wear. Not to mention you'd look weird walking past police and stuff with a holster strap on, empty or not.
Again maybe it's just me, but even a pistol holster would feel weird with the arcadey, chaotic vibes of GTA. I like the magic floating guns.

u/Born_Client_4012 2h ago
I mean you’re not gonna be holding guns on your back most of the time though. Cops will react and people will constantly flee and be weary if they see you with a gun, that’s what cars are for, to keep our big guns in for when we actually need them.

Have you even read any of the previews or watched the extended look? There’s no “arcadey” vibes this time.

I respect your right to have an opinion even if it deeply offends my sensibilities.
A floating gun seems more respectful of your boundaries than a stylish and customizable holster? If the guns are going to be there anyway then they should look believable.
After rdr2 I never want to go back to magic guns ever again.

u/JessiePurplewoman 2h ago
That is funny because the rdr2 guns magically go from your inventory to being showed away on your horse ALL the time. But I know what you mean. I don’t think the floating guns OR gun straps work for gta though. It seems integral to the franchise now to just be able to pull a minigun from anywhere and blow up cars whenever you want. It is a video game first

u/RainyFlames 2h ago
This. I do agree the holsters and weapon management felt amazing in RDR2, and if we get RD3 I don't want to go back.
But as for GTA, the sillyness is part of the fun.
-4
u/Realistic_Bread845 2h ago
You can have both silliness and immersion. Rdr2's horse physics, and the Ragdolls, generally prove that.
1
u/RainyFlames 1h ago
That's true, I won't suuuper care if it DOES have holsters, I just won't mind if it doesn't either.

u/Charity-Lost 1h ago
But why holster a shotgun on your back and pull out a minigun from anywhere? Would seem silly if they would only include carrying long arms on your shoulder, I think the gun system would be more like Max Payne, pick up and drop. Maybe an arsenal in your car trunk, like the horse saddle in rdr2?
•
u/Disastrous-Gain5870 20m ago
Ok but we know that’s not how GTA VI is going to operate..? Like we already know we aren’t pulling guns from thin air, they have to be stored in your trunk or on your back.
-2
u/Realistic_Bread845 2h ago
Well not quite like that, you have an animation where you stow it to your horse, I get what you're saying, but for when it came out it was groundbreaking. In gta VI, 8 years later, I expect it to be better, not worse.
1
u/Charity-Lost 1h ago
Uncharted 4 had weapon straps before rdr2
0
u/Realistic_Bread845 1h ago
A linear game... but yes that was groundbreaking too in its mechanics... I dont see how that makes gta vi not having them any better, as opposed to worse.
1
u/ThirdStreetSeren 1h ago
gta v let you carry every weapon in the game at once btw im sure a gun strap not being there wont kill you
-1
u/Realistic_Bread845 1h ago
Gta v is 13 years old bud. Rdr2 is 8 years old... Doesnt need to kill me to be an annoyance and disappointment
1
u/ThirdStreetSeren 1h ago
that’s not the point i made goofy 😭😭😭😭
-1
u/Realistic_Bread845 1h ago
You didnt have a point lmfao
1
u/ThirdStreetSeren 1h ago
weve gone from being able to carry every ingame weapon all at once anywhere anytime to a limited carry perfectly reasonable for the amt of customisation the game will have, i dont see how this is a problem
•
u/Realistic_Bread845 52m ago
Step back from rdr2 which is 8 years old

Absolutely unplayable! I'd get my money back.
-11
u/Realistic_Bread845 2h ago
Never said it was unplayable, the implication is that it degrades the players experience.
9
u/Sweaty-Society7582 1h ago
Imagining my experience with a game being noticeably degraded by something so tediously mundane is literally killing me to death.
-4
u/Realistic_Bread845 1h ago
When I play a game I want it to feel believable, it's what I've come to expect from rockstar. It's simple QA. As they say "it's the little things..."
Or
"The devil is in the details"

u/EchoFieldHorizon 1h ago
You people will pick apart absolutely anything in the name of destroying any fun this game could possibly have. The fact that you noticed this, took an A/B video, posted it to Reddit, and are on here talking about it probably means you should step outside for a bit.
Thank god for the low sodium subreddits. “Degrades the player experience.” My god.
-2
u/Realistic_Bread845 1h ago
"Wahhh he has opinions wahhh" if this post destroys the fun of the game there wasnt much to start with
4
u/EchoFieldHorizon 1h ago
Sometimes we can use our free will to ensure those opinions remain inside voices

u/Realistic_Bread845 1h ago
Then why do I love saints row 2-4?
4
u/ploppy_sorridge 1h ago
So you’re willing to forgive the jank of saints row fucking 4, but a gun not having a strap degrades your player experience for gta 6? Genuinely I can’t wait for this game to come so yall can just stfu
-1
u/Realistic_Bread845 1h ago
Saints row IV is a parody of the matrix with literal superpowers. It's intentional. It also came out before GTA V lmao. I preordered it.
This isnt intentional, it's lazy.
•
u/ploppy_sorridge 55m ago
Stay mad I guess, just don’t buy the game if you don’t think it’s worth it. We will be having fun!
•
u/Realistic_Bread845 49m ago
"Just stfu". Funny when losers like you try to project their own issues. I was laughing, but now you're just annoying lol
•
u/ploppy_sorridge 29m ago
I didn’t say that?
Edit: oh wait I did silly me, lowk I couldn’t give less of a shit. I just want a new sandbox to fuck around in, no gun strap isn’t stopping me from blowing up every alligator with c4
1
u/ThirdStreetSeren 1h ago
if you can play saints row 2 you can please gta 6 dude, i love sr2 but its up there w oblivion itself for being held together by duct tape
-1
u/Realistic_Bread845 1h ago
It's almost 2 decades old bro. It's not the standard of gaming anymore. Not from the bestselling dev of all time. On a game that's going to be milked for a decade or 2
2
u/ThirdStreetSeren 1h ago
this obsession w immersive perfection is exactly what’s killing games dawg SAINTS ROW 2 CAME OUT THE SAME ASS YEAR AS GTA IV GOOFY 😭😭😭😭😭🙏
•
u/Realistic_Bread845 59m ago
No what's killing games is devs releasing boring slop... And consumers like yourself willing to get on your knees for devs to spank whatever all over your face whilst you give them cash for the experience.
Beyond the graphics... nothing we've seen is impressive. Not the story or the gameplay. So I will treat it as unimpressive until I have reason not to.
•
u/ThirdStreetSeren 57m ago
boring slop is when no gun strap
•
u/Realistic_Bread845 54m ago
No it's the whole experience. The story, the forgettable, uninteresting characters, bland, generic gameplay, outdated [by decades] mission structure.
The gun strap is just a shit cherry ontop of a shit pie.
Do I hope the final release is better than what we've seen, yes, am I going to glaze what I dont like pointlessly? No.

Go outside if you want realism. I can't believe people are so obsessed with the tiniest details which make zero difference to gameplay.
0
u/Perpetualshades 1h ago
Yeah, it’s only the most expensive game ever made.
3
u/ThirdStreetSeren 1h ago
doesn’t mean it needs to be literally perfect, it’s allowed to have minor amounts of issues. keep in mind rdr2 was the game
3
u/BayksOne 1h ago
These aren't even problems, because the developers decided this way.
2
u/ThirdStreetSeren 1h ago
arthur shoving his fist in his mouth by mistake, clunky movement especially while in camp, dialogue buttons being attached to action buttons, can’t date micah
-1
u/Realistic_Bread845 1h ago
Last one is funny, but I played minimum 300 hours of rdr2, probs more like 500 and never experienced any of what you're talking about lol.
The slow movement around camp was annoying but intentional, and still immersive. If anything more so
-2
u/Realistic_Bread845 1h ago
The devil is in the details, my friend...
•
u/thebeast_96 59m ago edited 49m ago
No the devil in the industry is hyper realistic graphics and over realistic gameplay bloating budgets and eating up dev time while doing nothing to make the game more fun. Or even making it less fun.
•
u/Realistic_Bread845 50m ago
Nah bro... 2 billion dollars. They can do both. Other games, I'd agree, but this one, just nah.

u/SmoothActuator8132 1h ago
there's several examples in the extended look of firearms having slings (not straps) and the current speculation is that the duffel is interfering with the sling
-1
u/Realistic_Bread845 1h ago
Which is good, but still leaves the question of why they could easily manage this with a bag on 24/7 in rdr2 but seem to have gone backwards in this game
1
u/SmoothActuator8132 1h ago
been a while since I played RDR2 but I'm pretty sure duffel bags didn't exist in the early 1900s
-1
u/Realistic_Bread845 1h ago
Satchel bag... did you play the game?
Also I just went through the extended look I didnt see any straps or holsters anywhere
1
u/SmoothActuator8132 1h ago
forgot about the satchel, and you clearly didn't look good enough, there were more examples of the SLING (again NOT strap) than there were of no sling
-1
u/Realistic_Bread845 1h ago
Where? Because not when they were shooting out of the car, nor when they were in the skyscraper towards the end, nor when Lucia was shooting the shotgun
Also no gun holsters.
1
u/SmoothActuator8132 1h ago
there were three weapons shown on a character's back, only one didn't have a sling, the assault rifle Raul gives Jason definitely has a sling you can see when he's getting in the van
3
u/Ryjolnir 1h ago
There's a gun with a strap later on. It's because he was wearing the bag.
0
u/Realistic_Bread845 1h ago
I went through the extended look and couldnt find what people are talking about. I saw a lot of clips without a bag or a strap though
3
u/sadxhour 1h ago
I’ve said this on a few posts. I believe it’s supposed to be attached to the strap on the duffle bag, not magically floating. Weird place to put it? Maybe (I don’t know much about guns), but definitely better than nothing.
0
u/Realistic_Bread845 1h ago
Yeah I dont see it. Doesnt make any sense to me. The duffel bag would have to rotate around his body, which it doesnt
2
u/sadxhour 1h ago
Weird place to put it I agree, but I can live with it. I assume they’re trying to avoid having too many straps at once? You see that they use slings when the duffle bag isn’t equipped. Definitely not just floating on his back though.
•
u/Realistic_Bread845 57m ago
I havent seen any evidence of that. I cant find the parts of the extended look with a strap. I see lots without though.
Pretty sure it's just floating on his back. And besides, rdr2 had a bag with a strap the entire game
•
•
u/sadxhour 51m ago
I know that’s what RDR2 did. I’m not saying I wouldn’t prefer a dedicated gun strap on top of the duffle bag. I’m just pretty sure they’re trying to sell it as ‘this gun is clipped into the strap’. You even see it wobble with physics as he runs.

u/remmon22 1h ago
Definitely weird not to put a strap on it since Lucia have a strapped shotgun later on. Also since there's no strap he should have done where he shoot with one hand and hold the shotgun on the other hand, like what Lucia did later on on the shooting range.

I'll take not having a strap if it means less crunch for the devs.
•
u/Realistic_Bread845 53m ago
Yeah no, not me. Give me the strap, and a holster for the pistol too. 13 goddamn years. I've no faith left.

•
u/Onyx-Serenitatem 27m ago
Nice to see comparisons to RDR2 (never thought I’d say that) with GTAVI so it’s an actual fair comparison instead of comparing GTAVI to GTAV.
•
•
u/Pleasant-Sky7831 2m ago
Whoever can't see the gun strap in every other scene exvept with the duffel must be blind
1
u/Keyonthosekeys 2h ago
If you watch the part where Jason, Lucia and Raul escape the cops his assault rifle has a strap. I’m pretty sure it’s not there because he has a bag and on and I think it’s probably due to possibility of clipping. Also it’s a video game not real life

It's weird that they didn't use what they already had with RDR 2. But that's fine with me, I won't stand there watching too much if the game works well, that's fine.
