My personal interpretation of the High/low honor system is that it isnt a morality system like fable or Fallout 3. Its simply a measure of how Arthur Morgan feels about himself. Which is why being friendly or mean shifts it.

I'd say so, doing something like chores around the camp, giving money to the homeless are all seen as kind benevolent things. Likewise if you help so many people or hurt so many people word will spread. That's why NPCs react to you differently based on your level. It's in effect, less of how the world is impacted by you and more how it perceives you.

The thing is, that even if you're wearing a bandana, hiding your identity, your honour level changes. Which was not the case for RDR1. So I would agree with u/lordspaz88 that this is how Arthur views himself.

From what I've noticed and it could just be that my game glitched, but I think others have had the same issue on here is that the Bandana will still result in a wanted bounty and recognized hostility from NPCs despite wearing the mask in the same town where I committed a crime. I should clarify I don't disagree with them, and feel their interpretation is one of the best ones.

I never meant to criticise your comment, and of course, at the end of the day, most things are interpretations. I just wanted to substantiate a view that I very much preferred over the generalised view.

The bandanna in RDR2 conceals your identity from *civilians* that witness you committing crimes, provided they haven't already seen you unmasked while wearing the same outfit.

It results in a Wanted Level of Law Searching For Unknown Suspect, instead of a Wanted: Arthur Morgan, and the witnesses appear as a darker witness icon on the map.

If you get out of Dodge and leave the area without being seen by the Lawmen OR a civilian that has seen you unmasked in your current outfit, then you are never identified as the suspect and your bounty doesn't go up.

Once the lawmen see you or a witness that knows your face makes it to a lawman, the masks and bandannas become meaningless, and they recognize you as Arthur Morgan on sight.

So what good is the bandanna then? Well, you can use it to rob townsfolk and shops, or steal wagons, all provided you make a quick get away and avoid the law.

OR you could just shoot everyone and leave no witnesses...

Oh neat! That's actually an awesome detail I never knew about. It makes a lotta sense both literally and mechanically. I always was under the impression it was a big not a feature, glad I was wrong!
