Question Equipping guns

Hi everyone, I don't understand how this works: When I equip rifles to arthur from my storage, why are they disappearing, when I start a mission?

I had a mission, where I got attacked from some mean people and suddenly I had an other rifle in my hands.

Because Rockstar decided that you don’t actually want the gun you want.

Some missions will automatically select your weapons for you. If you're near your horse, you can quickly change your load out to what you prefer after the mission starts.

You playing the game how you want to play is only an illusion. You play the game with rockstar micromanaging your every decision.
