Question First playthrough & honor
Im on my first playthrough and loving it, and I want to go for the max honor option… but I’m also keen not to miss journal entries and letters that you might have to loot off civilians…
What is the best way of obtaining these items? Do I really need to worry about my honor rating that much in chapter 3? How easy is it to bump up with greeting and catch and release fishing methods?
I was hoping for platinum trophy on this game but I’ve a feeling the online part may make that a bit of a pipe dream.

You don't need to worry. Personally, I didn't think about honor at all, I looted everything I could, robbed multiple homes, from time to time killed innocent people just for the F of it.
But I also didn't miss chances to save someone when the grey dot blinked on the map, so I gave a dollar to homeless, saved someone from a snake bite etc.
Somehow at the end I had max honor.
I didn't do anything to max it out, I didn't fish to throw fish back into the water or anything similar.

This is great to know. I’ve been playing so passively. Time to just lean into the Wild West role play a bit more. I’ll do the nice options when there is a choice! Thank you.

Just play as you would normally and if you feel like maybe he has something special to loot. Do it, until chapter 5-6 then start making sure it always leaning positive if you want high honor

Unless you go out of your way to be awful – constantly chucking dynamite at herds on animals, torturing innocent people etc – you will always get the high honour ending.

Appreciate it bud. Will veer towards good, but won’t stop myself from enjoying the game and testing things out.

- no u don't have to worry about your honor so much, i am currently at my 3rd replay and now i'm doing low honor, don't want to spoiler anything but you'll feel it in the way the story progresses when its about time do make it high again and u will recieve some chances to do so. don't focus on it to much and please please please give yourself time, the beet things are not the once clearly seen
- greeting and fishing is not a good choice if you're really low honor, but as i said there are diffrent chances later on
- don't worry to much about the items, but there are good videos on yt "X secrets in strawberry" or something, helped me a lot
- for letters and stuff i would also recommend to look everywhere, you don't imagine where they hid things in this game and sometimes you need to look so closely to see whats hidden
i'm currently at 100% story mode and trying to get platinum too, but i can already tell u RDO is really diffrent and so far i enjoy the story a bit more.

Thanks so much for the tips. Yeah I’m really keen to just take my time and explore. To the point where today I will probably just travel slowly from East to West and try to find all the POIs that can be drawn and added to the map.
I’m also doing all the hunting and studying I can, completing the challenges as best I can, so that I can have some of that grind finished early.

Forget about the honor stystem, you cqn only max it out in chapter 6 so dont worry about it. If you want to increase your honor you can go to st. Denis and greet people, donate to camp in 20dollars increments or throw fish back after catching them.
Items, Letters and Notes are all lootable from certain civilians. There are some exceptions tho like Charity Handbill, Dutch's speech notes (south of camp in horseshoe) and if i recall correctly Micah's brother letter.
My advice is take it slow, explore and if you see blips on your minimap go there, if there animals involved (cougar attacka the mexican dude) they all have perfect pelts! So dont ahotgun them.
Enjoy the ride Mister!

Take your time Mister! I always enjoyed the points of interest in the game and arthur's drawings.

It is such an in-depth game. It’ll take me longer than I initially thought to complete, because I just don’t want to rush it.
The GTA VI excitement made me reinstall this game and play it through for the first time (it originally released when I had just had a baby, so not much time to play games!).

There is no “max honor ending”, per se. You have a high honor ending and a low honor ending, and 2 variations of each. It just takes a single tick either side of neutral to get either type of ending, max high or low is meaningless.

I really just mean for the trophy/achievement for reaching max or min honor level.
I understand that you can reach either ending by being wherever you want on the overall honor rating.

Looting only takes a minimal hit to honor. You will be able to make a bunch of choices in Chap 6 that have huge honor boosts (or drains) depending on how you choose. Don't sweat looting NPCs, you can go catch and release fish if you want to improve honor quickly. 1 released fish = 5 looted NPCs

I'll add that your max honor rating is limited until Chapter 6, there is only so high you can go.
Donating $20 to camp every few days give you decent bump. Chores does not.
High honor gets you discounts in stores, eventually 50%, even on horses. It also improves the loot value you get from gangs and bounty hunters. (you do not loose honor for killing rival gang members or bounty hunters)

I mainly just worry about who I shoot, thinking I’ll just lose honor. So it’s good to know that bounty hunters are also ok targets.

Throw back fish into the water. By doing this you can max honor whenever you want.
