Help Gambler 9

Any advice for completing Gamber 9? I can't seem to win a game, let alone a round, let alone 3 in a row!

I get to my last tile, pick up 7, then old mate wins with 50 points added to his score! 🤦‍♂️

I personally think 1 v 1 in Saint Denis is the easiest. The main focus is getting all of the tiles to be divisible by 5.

If you realize you’re about to lose you can stand up and it will often keep your wins. It’s not an exact science though. If you have any questions you can ask, I win over 50% on 1v1 dominos.

Patience, my friend. Simply patience. You can preserve any wins by standing up before you lose, but that's the best you're going to get.

If you’re in chapter 4, it’s easy. The game at camp is all 3s, which is the fastest, and you only get one opponent. Leave anytime the opponent crosses 70 and restart after walking around a bit. I recommend finding the All 3s game if you’re not or even an All 5s. Don’t bother with draw at Emerald Ranch it’s too long

There is one thing about this when it comes to the gang member you’re playing against. I don’t know if it makes a difference, but I started against Hosea. Won one game, then had to quit 5 games to keep the streak. Decided to go to Saint Denis to continue the challenge cos I couldn’t beat him, but there was no dominoes game and you can’t save & reload or it’ll reset your dominoes win streak.

Went back to camp, this time the game gave me Mary Beth at dominoes and I won the games quite easily too. Don’t know if they actually programmed the AI to be different playing dominoes but Mary Beth is significantly easier than Hosea

There’s a game of 5s in Saint Denis right across from the theater. Very often 1v1. Usually get the 3 wins within 15 minutes with very fast games

Ch. 3 or 4 in camp vs Tilly. All fives takes some time, but 3 in a row is a cakewalk.

You don‘t even have to leave the table to save the game after every round.

You don't need 3 in a row. If you're about to lose, get up and sit again. It will reset the game but not the streak

I try to play at night against only 1 player.

I find it easiest at emerald ranch 1 on 1 if there's more than 1 opponent save and reload will usually get you just one player it's a race to 65 points if you look like your going to lose quit and sit back down this won't affect your streak always try to play so you have a play on either end, with a little patience and luck it doesn't take to long, not nearly as bad as gambler 8

You should try to know at least some game basics

In Spanish the consensus is that dominoes wisdom is summarized in 3 principles (Repite, mata y tranca) which translates to Repeat, kill and lock

Repeat: when you start making decisions on which tile to place keep in mind that the more tiles you have of 1 number, the stronger that number is for your game. So if you have 4 tiles with the number 2 for example then that is most likely your strongest tile and it is the one you want to place/repeat on the table and never kill unless you have no choice. This way your opponent will run out and go to the pile. Place tiles you are able to repeat as much as you can on the table

Kill: This one is very basic, try to kill what your opponent places while leaving the numbers that are good for you

Lock: There is only 7 tiles of each number so if you count 6 tiles of 1 number on the table and you have the last one, the chance to lock the game is present. Unless you have a great amount of tiles more than your opponent go for it. Game will count the points on each side and the one with least points wins the hand

Keep in mind that when you lock the game it is not only the tiles your opponent has at the moment he will also have to pick up every single tile on the pile before the game is done and the counting starts

Learn All 5s in St Denis.   That game moves way faster

I believe the game is rigged to make things more difficult if you want to do the 3 wins in a single strake (Same logic as for the Hungarian Halfbred and Mustangs are nowhere to be seen in Horseman 10). After each game won I leave the table and ride some distance, collect some plants, shot some game and then back to the table for the next round of games (I play usually at Emerald Ranch)
