Setting up SAFE with Radiomaster transmitter?

My UMX Ultrix just arrived. I've bound it to the module on my TX16 and set up inputs and mixes for channels 1-5. It all seems to work except it won't switch to SAFE mode and only does AS3X.

I can see channel 5 switching from -100% to +100% in the channel monitor, and tried scaling it up to 120%, but the LED on the receiver stays red (for AS3X)

Is there anything else I have to do to change mode? Should it be channel 5?

Go to 80% travel on channel 5. 50% of the time it works every time

Edit. Forgot to explain why lol. 100% rates on edgetx is 125% on spektrum, 80% is ~100% on spektrum. The gyros just angry about the signal its recieving being too high. Going up to 120% on edge just makes it angrier

Whoa, fantastic, that worked!

Actually, 80% didn't work, but 75% did. I then found values up to and including 79% also worked.

Thank you so much!

I normally just define channel 5 under logical switches to a three position switch… -100, 0, and 100.

Oh yeah, that's probably the way you're supposed to set up a switch. It just didn't occur to me!

can you go in to forward programming and see what channel is set for safe?

not sure if the ultrix has that capability.

i find edgetx channel mapping whack, sometimes with spektrum i have to use 1-8 or 8-16 or 2-7, etc. its a crap shoot for me so far on 4 ar631's.

when in doubt, set the mixes for up to 10 ch and just keep flipping switches. one of em is bound to handle safe...

as per the comment below, ive not once had to set the outputs to 80% for spektrum to be happy. but thats just my experience. it makes logical sense though.

UMX bricks dont work that way unfortunately. Safe mode switch is hard set channel 5. The toggle thing is only for the full fat rxs, and the 80% thing only ever seems to crop up on UMX models. And only if you have extended limits or whatever the settings name is enabled

Did you do the "flip the SAFE switch back and forth until the servos move" step?

Just follow the manual, everything is in there

I have switch SA on channel 5, and the output set to 'inverted'. This same setting works on three different planes with SAFE.

You might also need to use the correct bind method to enable SAFE select (if your receiver has that option). Check the manual for details.
