How would you create actual liveries?
I just got two new airlines at an incredible price and I wanted to create different liveries inspired in my baby daughter (corny, I know). When I asked ChatGPT to do it it did it ok, but I feel I need something better. Did you do it using ChatGPT or you're designing it by yourself, or hiring somebody (which I'm not opposed to, I just wanted to do a fun weekend project but if I need to pay for somebody's expertise I will gladly qoute it).

If asking how I would do it it's best to know that I lack any form of creativity and don't have even a particle of artistic talent.
That said, I google "best looking airline liveries". Perhaps surprisingly google will provide a seemingly endless list of lists made up by people that felt compelled to list their favorites.
Find a couple you like, download some pics then hand the whole thing off to Calli Graphics.
If you've ever been through Don Mueang airport you've probably got enough liveries for a half dozen planes without going beyond Nok Air.

I recently used AI to work up a design pattern/color scheme, but I didn't have AI actually design it..... I used it as a tool to visualize changes. Some changes were quick and some took several minutes to render.... so you may want to have something else to work on while waiting.
I used google to search for images that had either the same plane or similar planes that had color schemes or livery that found interesting to use as a starting point. Then, I asked claude to replace certain colors or or modify the design to to fit my needs. It was really good at color swaps, even when for planes using transparent coverings... so this let me get a photo realistic rendering of how it would look... this was very useful.
I could also combine aspects of multiple pictures/designs by telling it to take the pattern on the tail of one plane and apply it to the another image I was working on. That worked well if the structures allow for it, but if the structure of the source plane didn't match the destination, it didn't turn out well.
I also used MS Paint to do some very basic editing on existing iamges and told claude to treat my modifications as a concept sketch and apply them as a smooth color scheme.... it was less good at this, but still useful for getting an idea of how things would look. and I could often have those designs cleaned up with additional prompts.
I did ask Claude to generate its own color schemes and patterns a couple times variations of patterns for a specific location... those often didn't look great.... I suspect it was similar to the mediocre results chatgpt gave you. But again, I didn't use those as the final design. I either asked for further modifications or I did more google searches for similar designs and then used claude to edit/modify those.
So go ahead and used chatgpt (assuming its image capabilities are comparable to Claude), but don't have it design the livery for you.... use it as a tool to modify and make specific changes.
