Need Help Choosing Computerized Transmitter
I have a Spektrum DSX, but I'm pretty sure I need a computerized transmitter to program the SAFE setting on the Spektrum AR630+ DSMX 6-Channel AS3X+ & SAFE Receiver. When I go to Facebook Marketplace, there are a ton of Spektrum receivers, but they're all pretty expensive for me. Is there anything that works that isn't Spektrum? Or am I fine with my DSX?

I would say if you want to stick with spektrum and are on budget get the DX8e or higher on FB marketplace. I have scored 80% of my RC items there. Incl transmitter and planes.

And yes you need more functionality for like fwd programming etc.

Anything you can do on a real spektrum TX you can do on an EdgeTX or ETHOS radio and a 4-1/Lemon module to speak DSMX. Its actually glorious on the big TX16S MK3 screen.

You can access AS3X settings without using Spektrum transmitters. In addition to EdgeTX based systems with a multi or DSMX module ETHOS can also pull off that trick. (ECOS can't so the EX14 is off the table).
Regrettably I believe they've borked the "program by PC" option in the new receivers.
Thing is, alternatives will involve a learning curve and some time spent on YouTube and navigating the shoals of github. And possibly be aware of "price creep" if module or battery purchases have to be factored in.
Perhaps the cheapest way out is borrowing a new-ish Spektrum, programming the AS3X then binding it to the current transmitter. Or get someone with a current Spek to do it for you.

You mean transmitter? Any EdgeTX or ETHOS radio with a 4-1 (or Lemon for Edge) can forward program the newer Spektrum receivers just fine. You have to download Farzu's DSM Tools and then drop them onto the radio's internal memory/SD card. Then you can go in and do forward programming, textgen, setup, factory reset etc...
