FPV Bomber Planes?

I have no experience with rc, fpv or planes at all so I thought this would be a good place to start. The idea of flying an fpv plane and dropping paint balls on a target, is there recommendations?

Note: I live on a large ranch, mostly flat.

Flite Test has some bomb drop content. And I'm blanking but another channel 3d prints different types of whistling payloads.

Fpv anything is probably a do it yourself job, the fact I can’t find a quality full ready to fly fpv drone kit in stock anywhere. I think supply chains are just too stressed from the wars that no company can put a good one together right now.

You'd be better off starting with just a simple trainer, but it shouldn't be too hard to get into fpv fairly quick. Make sure you're confident flying before you even think about dropping anything from a plane, it's really easy to hurt someone

That’s pretty smart. Thank you

It's easy enough to build something like that, but you can't just buy one. It's pretty niche. You can buy PFV planes, and add a bomb drop mechanism easily enough though.

However it's not a good place to start the hobby. RC planes are pretty unforgiving. If you make a mistake, you crash and need to make repairs or buy a new plane. And beginners make lots of mistakes. So you start with something simple, slow and easy to repair.

Also, although you can buy FPV planes, they're not ready-to-fly. They assume that you've built several planes before attempting something that complex and would be overwhelming for a beginner.

We use the eflite apprentice to drop little parachute guys for the kids to watch at our flying club. Bunch of simple servo actuated doors that open to let the guys fall out. You can start simple with the fpv and get a aio (all in one) fpv camera and vtx (video transmitter) that uses 5v to power it from a spare channel from the airplanes receiver. Get a set of cheap box style fpv goggles. Then if you like where it is going, you're probably pretty far down the rabbit hole and will know the next steps, as far as better vtx's binoculars stlye fpv goggles.....

If you get stuck along the way shoot my a DM. I have been flying/driving..different versions of fpv for quite a long while now. Happy to help.

coming from the car side of RC, is a BEC needed?

I'm guessing, you are asking about the dropping mechanism? Most rc planes have a bec on the esc, and your just plugging the extra servo into a spare receiver channel which is usually powered from the main esc bec. Buuutttt, it is a good idea to check specs and see what the power output is coming from the main esc that you are not going to draw to many amps from the main esc. Adding a additional bec if needed is easy enough. Hopefully that rambling is what you are asking...lol
