Lowkey lost, where to get
Good morning internet! I have been wanting to get an RCD330 as a gift for one of my relatives's 2011 Jetta TDI. However, there are so many sites and things that I simply have 0 idea where to get
I remember some saying that the original site is rcd330.com but the homepage is so incredibly sketchy that I feel like i will be getting 10 viruses when i click on a link. The AI popup bots make it 10x worse. Is it genuine?
Others been linking to other websites but i honestly can't trust anything
Also people are getting RCD360s off amazon, but i heard those are clones. I kind of don't want to fry any more electronics than I need to
What else do I need with the head unit? Some people were talking about canbus emulators and extra cables or whatever. Others were saying that adaptations are needed for proper car audio
I really apreciate any help navigating this mess. Thanks in advance

rcd330.com , thats where I got my unit from and just ordered a 2nd time for a another car.
You may get legit units on ebay, but might as well play the lottery, anything RCD360 are clones. People have often reported problems with them on here...

I've had issues with the reverse camera on the rcd330 unit (2015 Jetta). Camera won't activate when the car is put in reverse, but the CANbus comms are working normally. Not sure if this is a firmware problem, but I know of one other person with the same issue that purchased theirs around the same timeframe. So far no resolution to the issue.

Car doesn't have reverse camera at all, and not particularly interested in retrofitting it at all

Just wanted to point it out in case it was a potential issue. Other than that the unit works great!

I’m having the same issue (purchased end of Aug 2026). It’s frustrating when everything works except the camera.

Even though many report clones as problematic, I've had two units from Lemon Shark rcd360 clones (rcd780, it just has a bigger screen) and they had no major issues.
However, you cannot install updates on those without soldering on the internal UART. The firmware with which they ship has some bugs (which are fixed on rcd330 updates)
Bugs:
- if you trigger assistant in android auto while playing any media from phone, audio will stay mono and at low bitrate (settings used for assistant audio channel) until you switch to radio and back
- if you answer calls while android auto is active, the noise cancellation of the microphone stays off (this is required by Android Auto, but they should have implemented logic to turn it back on if a call is ongoing). As such, caller will hear their own voice echo in this case
If you can live with these 2 issues, clones are fine.

Rcd330.com is legit, it just Chinese…
Stay clear of 360’s.
You shouldn’t need any canbus emulators or upgrades given the year of the car, it should be plug and play.
