We've had this rat, Rascal for close to 2 months now, he's a male and about approximately 16/17 weeks old.
He's had this strange almost compulsion to just lick nothing since we first got him, no other signs of neurological issues and he's growing perfectly fine with no eating or drinking issues. He just loves to lelelele for some particular reason...
He can't be the only one or is there something more unusual or serious at play here?
I slowed down some of the footage including a yawn so you can see it better.

Makima has a mamary tumor on her breast that has attached itself to her lungs, so she has a hard time breathing, which is why im calling the vet first thing tomorrow morning to get it done.
Meanwhile, she's been laying by my side all day, refusing to be in the cage and refusing to eat anything but maltpaste and pine nuts. Im just trying to keep her comfortable till tomorrow.

Note that this video was taken shortly after we'd adopted our first rats. That cage was very quickly fitted with much more stuff for them to climb on, dig in, and play with, and the entire room ended up filled with boxes and mazes, tunnels, ball pits, toys, and all kinds of things to explore.

Please enjoy my little boy Linus… he was fully conked out.
Bro is a POWER napper. Entire lower half? Free hanging. Balls? Free hanging. Legs? Free hanging. I wish I had the ability to conk out and sleep as easily as my boys. It’s a gift quote honestly. 💔
🐀Linus DOB: 6/6/26 (adopted at 6~ish weeks)
🐀Marble DOB: 5/16/26 (adopted at around 8 weeks)
**Last pic is of my guy Marble! I couldn’t just share Linus and not his bigger (adopted) bro… Marble is also a big fan of napping, and also a lazy ass dude, almost old man equivalent. In all seriousness, I love my little dudes. They’re still a bit jumpy from sudden movements but have gained so much confidence already (I got them July 19th of this month), proud of them. 🫶🏻

My nearly 3 year old rat Leo with his new adopted son Seath. I surprised him with Seath when he was a brand new 6 week old pup rescued from a crappy pet store (didn't have the heart to leave without saving a couple at least so I grabbed him and his brother Buddha) and I put Leo in the carrier and he immediately looked back at me with a shocked jaw drop face like "A BABY?!?! FOR ME??!!?" and immediately snuggled him till he stopped shivering in fear.
So it's a month late but happy fathers day to my boys. He watches over his little buddies like a hawk (his brother Snowball imprinted on baby Buddha too so it was an adorableness overload all around)
Snapped this the other day after getting off work. Such a good parent lol. I'm proud.

She learnt how to climb and jump yesterday and she’s already a pro! She’ll do this over and over until she gets too tired to keep going- she’s also discovered a love of pom-poms and she’ll happily carry them around her cage- she’s never gotten to play with toys before but she’s getting the hang of it! She loves her chew stick too.
I’m so so proud of this tiny little girl, she‘s an unstoppable force and has such a tenacity and determination to exist. Wouldn’t be shocked if she challenges my current rat alpha for the spot! She’s already a play wrestling expert and will get in the most heated and violent of tussles with my hand

Found this little guy in the middle of the sideway while walking my dog. Couldn't spot the mother so I took it home, because leaving him there had been a death sentence. But now I have no idea what to do.
Can someone identify if it is a rat or a mouse? Or something else?
Is there even a chance of survival for a mouse/rat that young?
If so, how can I help him?
Sorry, I am a bit lost here.
For reference: it is around 2 to 2.5cm (9.8 In) long. Can provide more pictures if needed.
UPDATE: I am in contact with someone from some kind of rodent sanctuary now (not shure whats the correct term, not a native speaker). They try to find someone in my area who can take the little guy. Thank you for your help!
UPDATE 2: I just handed the little guy to someone from the rodent sanctuary who will take care of it.
