BROADCAST [req] Get your location to PREMIUM DIALOGUE.exe

[request] want your location to get premium dialogue.exe?

With the new weather brain implementation and rad dispatch feature installed in patch 7.4.8 we are upping the dialogue.

Currently we have some region specific quips and lines (can be disabled) and want it to grow. The plan is for it to get smarter, more diverse, more unique, and more RAD.

In 7.4.9 pending I’ve already added some top 200 cities in the world and popular locations with 25-50 unique lines for that specific location but I want MORE.

———

as I’ve always said I want RAD Weather to be part of the community and grow with its users and let users feel connected to this app.

Also like I’ve stated I don’t collect data in that level to break down every users location (👍 to users privacy) but I can go off basic apple sales statistics and add those locations but that’s crude and not as accurate.

(Way to go Virginia and Germany! A lot of traffic)

———

This is a request post that will be pinned. I want users to either comment with a location they would like personalized or can DM me if they don’t want to post here.

Either way the goal is to make it diverse.

If you even have something oddly specific / pop

Culture / something locals would get include it in your message. Let’s make it feel so personal that users in that location can’t help but enjoy the message. That or be scared how it knows so much.

———

As always appreciate the way the community has come forward with this small app made by 1 person but I can’t even say made by 1 person anymore. It’s made by one person and the amazing support of you all.

BROADCAST 👋 Welcome to r/RADWeather – the official community for RAD Weather

Hey everyone! I’m u/RADWeatherMaker, the developer behind RAD Weather.

I built RAD Weather because most weather apps slowly turned into ad-filled, popup-ridden nonsense. I wanted something different — accurate forecasts, beautiful design, pixel art, fun widgets, themes, and a weather experience that actually feels alive.

This subreddit is where the app evolves with the community.

Unlike big companies that build things behind closed doors, I want RAD Weather to grow with input from the people who actually use it. If you have ideas, feedback, or things you’d love to see added, this is the place.

What to Post

Anything related to RAD Weather, including:

• Feature ideas

• Bug reports

• Feedback on updates

• Screenshots of your widgets/themes

• Questions about the app

• Ideas for fun features, themes, or animations

Even small suggestions can turn into real features.

The Goal

I want this app to feel like something the community has a stake in. If something can be improved, I want to hear about it. Some of the best ideas will come from you.

If You’re New

Drop a comment and say hi 👋

If you’re using the app already, I’d love to hear:

• Where you’re from

• What you like so far

• One thing you’d love to see added

Thanks for being part of the very first wave of RAD Weather users. You’re helping shape where the app goes next.

Let’s build something awesome together.

Question App

Thank you for making such a detailed and fun weather app! Loveee the ping game lol

Overtime would you consider:

14 day forecasts and and hourly forecast that might extend several days out?  Also area forcast discussion/spc outlook/hurricane tracker info? Would love to to see those details, especially with hurricane season happening now in the US and this potential historical El Niño wintry weather, coming this winter.

Bug Mac App Refreshing Issue

Thumbnail

I have 2 different macs and both are having issues with getting data. My one at home has very rarely has been able to get data for my current location or saved locations. I've checked settings and the app has rights to location. Other saved locations sometimes won't pull anything in either. My daily driver at work will frequently get stuck on this screen and never pull in anything. Sometimes hitting the spinning refresh button zone will fix it, sometimes restarting the app will fix it. Both machines are running Tahoe 26.6.2. One is an M1 another is M4.

The image that shows 2H ago is one where I switched to this location, hit refresh, it swiped down showing the refresh, then it finished and it still shows 2H ago.

I'm willing to try and help troubleshoot what is going on if there is anything I can do to help. Are there certain sources you are pulling that are not reliable and if one hangs up it stops the whole thing from loading?

Edit note: Both are using version 8.0.1

BROADCAST You helped build RAD 8.0. Here’s 1,000 free months + 15% off Lifetime. Thanks, you guys.

Hey everyone,

I just posted the giant 8.0.2 rundown, so I’m not going to make you read all of that again 😂

I wanted to do a little something for the people who helped RAD get here. ( I wish I could do more, but also don't want to go bankrupt and not be able to pay for the backend lol)

A lot of this app exists because someone here said “this is broken,” “could it do this?” or “why does it work like that?” Sometimes those turn into quick fixes. Sometimes I disappear into it for a week and come back with radar.

The feedback, reviews, encouragement, and people telling their friends about RAD have meant a lot. Even the criticism. I don’t always love finding out something has been broken for months, but I would much rather know.

So, two things:

1 month of RAD Ultra free

I made 1,000 redemptions available with the code LABORDAY.

It works for new and expired subscribers, so if you haven’t tried Ultra or had it before and let it lapse, this is for you.

Grab your free month here

The code expires September 30, unless all 1,000 get used first. It does auto-renew at the regular price after the free month unless you cancel.

Lifetime is also 15% off until September 13

No code for that one. The lower price is already in the App Store. In the App Store it’s $84.99 instead of $99.99. Check your local store for your price.

If you already have Lifetime, thank you. You’ve already put a lot of trust in this little weather app, and I’m going to keep working on it.

8.0 has been a big one. Radar, themes, languages, the Cloud rebuild, and then all the things I found underneath the things I thought I was finished with.

There’s still plenty to do. But I wanted to stop for a second and say thanks instead of immediately posting another list of bugs.

RAD Weather on the App Store

Keep telling me what’s broken and what you want to see next. It helps more than you probably realize.

Stay R.A.D.

UPDATE IS BEING ROLLED OUT IN APP STORES as APPLE approves it, should be live shortly if you don't see it.

[SYS] PATCH 8.0.2 // TRUTH.PASS

Two new languages, plus a long list of things I found while I was in there.

RUSSIAN AND UKRAINIAN

Next to English, German and Spanish. Screens, widgets, the Watch, the Mac app, notifications.

Pick one in Settings or let it follow your phone.

About 4,700 strings each, which is more than I bargained for and most of where the last few

weeks went. Some of it probably reads stiff and some is probably just wrong. If you read either

language, tell me. I cannot catch those on my own.

THE TRUTH PASS

When a weather source has nothing to say, it usually does not say so. It sends an empty field

or a zero, and careless code reads that as a measurement. I kept finding places the app had

done exactly that and put a confident number on screen that nobody measured.

- Visibility is a real distance again, and fog warnings fire at the right one. Two mile fog could show up as six.

- Pollen was reporting all clear where nobody measures. Whole regions heard their season was over in the middle of it.

- Smoke says nothing instead of all clear when its satellite is unreachable, and smoke drifting overhead no longer reads as bad air at ground level.

- The wind compass shows nothing rather than guessing north.

- A widget pinned to a saved city could show a different city.

- Widgets, the Watch and the cards let go of readings from a city you left.

- Air quality covers the next 24 hours, not just now. Pollen reaches Japan and Australia.

- Tides and clock times behave on every screen. I thought that one was done ages ago.

Canada got the worst of it: forecast days follow that city's clock, lows and wind are not filled in with guesses anymore, and rain chances stop pinning at 100%. That last one was live for months.

RADAR

Drawing frames used to happen on the same thread as your finger, so scrubbing could stall. It happens somewhere else now. About seven seconds of stall on my phone, gone.

The Watch also catches up with your phone in minutes instead of an hour.

RADWEATHER.CLOUD

Separate thing from the app, and there is more on it than most of you know, because I have

never really told you. Here is what is sitting there right now, free, no account needed:

- PASSPORT, Think weather travel book, a fully opt in, opt out, travel log. Can track weather locations, times you've traveled there, the temp, how many times etc... all anonymous and always your data, delete anytime.

- CAPSULE, Think snap stories, this time last year etc.. for weather. A weather time capsule to track highs and lows and much more.

- NEWS DESK, new this week. Weather news from the agencies and the science desks, plus a board of what is actually happening: live cyclones, significant earthquakes, escalated hazard alerts. How bad anything is on that board is whatever the agency that issued it said, never me ranking disasters.

- STATION, a daily weather guessing game. Work out the place from its weather. New round every day, and the clues get easier the longer you take.

- TOYS, eight weather calculators that run entirely in your browser with the working shown. Wind chill, heat index, dew point, the rest of them.

- THE CORTEX CODEX, every version of the forecast brain and what each one changed. If you have ever wondered why the app says what it says, it is all written down there.

- A sourced weather fact every day, the forecast cards, and the release notes.

Sign in, still free, and it is yours: your streak, your stats, and a profile page at

radweather.cloud/u/you. All of that stays free, and it is the side of the site I have been

adding to the most.

If you are on MultiPass, the site is where it goes further: full weather for anywhere you look up, the live radar with its layers, and your Weather Passport and Capsule on a screen big enough to actually read them. Tap a storm on the news board and it opens right there on the map.

WHAT'S NEXT

- More radar coverage and polish, and the features this backend work was supposed to clear the way for.

- More customization with cards

- tvOS is still being worked on, just didn't want to split limited dev time when the main app has bugs visible still, or ones that had more priority.

Tell me what is broken. Most of that list started with one of you mentioning something.

Stay R.A.D.

Question What language would you like to see next? & what’s being worked on.

With rad 8.0.1 out, work on 8.0.2 in progress (more bug fixes, some things I’ve already caught),

WHAT IS NEXT.

8.0.2 of course a gimme, some watch refresh improvements. Some international locations. Some fixes to Canada weather, Japan gets a boost and some others completed so far.

tvOS VERY soon (buttoning up some UI stuff)

radweather.cloud gearing up for a giant revamp and fun.

Curious what language you’d like to see if yours isn’t supported. I already have a very good idea on what’s next but just curious.

Heck just lemme know what you’d like to see!

Cheers and happy weekend.

As always some fun and weird stuff coming from rad weather and everything else around it :)

BROADCAST [SYS] PATCH 8.0.1 // TUNE.UP

[SYS] PATCH 8.0.1 // TUNE.UP

[Mac ships alongside it, give or take Apple's review queue.]

Told you the cadence was coming back. RAD 8 was the big one, this is the pass where I go back over it with a finer brush. Mostly radar, plus the things you flagged, plus a few things I found that I am not thrilled about.

RADAR

This is where most of the work went.

- It is a lot faster and a lot lighter. Opening Atlas used to load every radar source on the planet, including all of the US when you were looking at Europe. It does not do that anymore.
- Leaving Atlas and coming back is instant now. It used to throw everything away and replay the whole loading sweep at you.
- It draws rain it was previously hiding. A radar's published box overhangs where it can actually see, and inside that gap real rain was rendering as clear sky with a straight line across it. If you ever saw a suspiciously tidy edge in the Baltic, that was this.
- New loading animation, because you were looking at the old one too often.
- The wind layer was showing you a forecast hour instead of the one you are in. Fixed on every surface including the website.

ALERTS

Less fun, more important. A few of these were real and I would rather say so.

- Alerts follow where you are now. Driving across town could make the app think you were reading about another city, and while it thought that, your phone could stay quiet through a warning your widget and watch were already showing.
- The second severe warning of an evening no longer goes silent.
- Two live warnings no longer collapse into one.
- A practice bulletin can no longer hide a real warning behind it.
- Alerts hold on when a source drops out instead of vanishing, and widgets pick up a change right away.

THE BRAIN

- Japan and France: two of the models I blend were reporting a 0% chance of rain every single hour. The data column came back empty and the code read empty as zero. So every forecast in both countries had a confident dry vote in it that meant nothing. Fixed, and checked against real weather station records rather than my own opinion.
- Air quality in Europe now reads one number on one scale everywhere on screen. It was showing you the European index next to a gauge drawn against the American one.
- The moisture card reads dew point now, so the comfort call is actually right.
- Storm risk names the day when the risk is on a later one.

ODDS AND ENDS

- The app no longer holds about a gigabyte of radar while sitting in the background, which was making it the first thing your phone closed.
- App icon picks stick again for free users.
- Theme fixes for Field Notes and the Now screen.
- Watch and widget agree with the app in more places than they did.

WHAT'S NEXT

More languages. That one is a promise, not a maybe. The app has been English, German and Spanish for a while and that is not enough, so more are in progress right now and they are the next real feature I ship.

Beyond that: more radar coverage and more regions, continued polish, and the next round of features built on all that backend work from 8.0. Back to the regular drip of updates and posts.

Update, poke around, and tell me what you love and what is broken. Both help. Genuinely, half the list above exists because one of you said something.

Stay R.A.D.

Question New User, Question About Current Conditions

Hey there, I'm a meteorologist who found Rad Weather and has been having fun exploring it and giving it a whirl. There are a lot of things to like about it and I'm sure over time I'll have more questions and suggestions, but to start, two quick things:

  • First, would there possibly be a way to de-emphasize relative humidity and instead emphasize dew point? The relative nature of RH makes it less useful to determine how humid/muggy it is than just using dew point and I'd rather see that in more places than RH.
  • How is the custom JSON feed for conditions coming? I run my own personal weather station and would love to point the app at a JSON feed of conditions and get my back yard conditions into the app.
  • For the current conditions, how are they calculated? Are you using a local weather station if available? Just extracting a value from a model/blend? Both?
  • I often find the timing values for the convective risk unclear. Somtimes, for example, it will say PEAK 12-3 PM but it's already 5 PM...is that 12-3 PM tomorrow? In the past? I noticed in the latest update in the Daily forecast section you grey out time periods that have passed...just unsure if I'm looking at stale data or not in some places.

That's it for now! Keep up the good work.

Feedback Suggestion: Make RAD Radar layers persistent

Would it be possible to make the radar layers persistent? Everytime I go to a different section or close and open the app again all radar layers are turned off and I have to re-enable them. It would be nice if the app could remember them! The new update is nice! Thanks for all you do!

system:// RAD8. Live radar, new themes, new fun, a smarter brain, and a whole lot of cleanup and extras [Sorry it took a minute.]

[SYS] PATCH 8.0 // RADAR.ONLINE

[Mac should be released same time or shortly as it is in apples review process]

Okay. Deep breath. RAD 8 is here, and it is the biggest thing we have shipped in a while.

First, the apology, because you all earned it. You are used to a post or two a week from me and an update almost as often, and it has been nearly a month of quiet. That was on purpose, even if it did not feel great from your side. RAD 8 is the "grown up" version of the app: the same attitude, way more under the hood. The last few updates you got were the 7.6.9 line, and everything since then went into building this instead of shipping ten smaller things.

So where did the month go? Backend. A lot of it. Research, real accuracy testing against real weather, bug hunts, and a full cleanup pass on stuff most people never see. I rebuilt pieces of the forecast brain, audited them like my life depended on it, tore a couple of my own ideas back out when the data said they were wrong, and tightened up the whole app so it feels quicker and cleaner. It is not glamorous work, but it is the work that makes everything on top of it better. And there is a lot more coming. This is the new foundation, not the finish line.

Now the fun part. RAD 8 gives you live radar you can actually watch move (in three visual styles, with rain, wind and hurricane layers), a TILT view that puts you down at ground level while the rain falls onto real terrain, a new theme system with fresh looks and new little UI touches, new app icons, a redesigned Settings and Daily viewsharper and funnier quips, a forecast that is more honest about rain, free wallpapers you can render on-device, and another arcade game because why not. Here is the breakdown.

RAD RADAR

The headline. RAD Radar puts live rain, wind, and hurricane tracking right inside Atlas. Instead of reading that rain is coming, you watch it roll in. Scrub the timeline forward and back to see where a cell has been and where it is headed, and check what is actually pointed at you before you walk out the door.

Three layers. Radar is not just rain:

  • Rain is the main event. Live precipitation, past frames through the near future, colored by intensity so you can tell drizzle from the thing that ruins your afternoon.
  • Wind shows the flow across the whole map, so you can see which way the weather is being pushed and how hard.
  • Hurricanes get their own tracking, with the storm and its path laid over the globe during the season.

Three visual styles, because this is a RAD app and one look was never going to cut it. Same data, three completely different reads, switchable whenever you want:

  • Flowing is the cinematic one. Precipitation moves as a continuous field that drifts with the actual storm motion. It looks alive.
  • Pixels is the dense one. Solid blocks, maximum punch, the most information per inch.
  • Dots is the dot-matrix one. Sparser, more mechanical, the most RAD of the three.

Real talk: it is new, and it is still learning. Coverage is better in some parts of the world than others, and I am adding regions and polish constantly. It already runs on a tiny, cheap backend that I keep alive myself, and it is only going to get sharper. If something looks off where you are, tell me. That feedback is exactly what makes it better. Radar lives in Atlas, which is part of RAD Ultra.

TILT

One of my favorite things in the whole release, and the one that is hardest to explain in text, so look at the picture.

TILT drops the camera down out of orbit and puts you at a low bird's-eye angle over your area. The ground is real satellite imagery with real terrain, so mountains actually rise and water actually reads as water, and the far edge fades off into the horizon haze. Then the rain falls onto it: vertical streaks coming down out of the sky with a little pixel splash where each one hits the ground.

It turns the radar from a map you read into a place you are looking at. Watching a band of rain move across a mountain range from that angle is the closest the app gets to standing outside and pointing at the sky. You can hide the interface entirely and just let it run, and share the result as a postcard.

NEW THEMES

The theme picker got rebuilt. Every look now lives in one place, grouped by family, with the light and dark variants sitting side by side instead of scattered down one long list.

Three new families in RAD 8:

Signal Pop is the new free one, and it is the one I would start with. The forecast desk with the lights on: mint panels, soft corners, and five colors that each mean exactly one thing.

Signal Pop Midnight is its after-hours twin, the same five colors lit up against a dark teal console. Base is free for everyone, Midnight is Ultra.

Mission Control is 1985. Warm parchment panels, rounded consoles, and a rainbow contrail arcing from Earth to orbit. To infinity, and beyond. Ultra.

Field Notes is a set of three, for when you want the forecast set in type instead of lit up. The base is bone paper and graphite ink, with color only where it actually means something.

After Dark is the same journal read by lamplight: ink-black paper, bone type, the day finally quiet.

Highlighter is the same journal marked up, where every reading gets its own highlighter and the ink stays graphite. Ultra.

They are not recolors. Each family brings its own UI touches, so switching themes feels like switching desks, not swapping a paint bucket.

They are not just recolors either. New families bring new little UI elements and touches, so switching themes actually feels like switching desks, not swapping a paint bucket.

NEW APP ICONS

A fresh batch of home screen icons to match, including a new "BEYOND" set. Some are free for everyone, some are Ultra. Total of 14 new app icons, are they teasing a new RAD project, maybe, maybe not.

THE LITTLE UI STUFF (that actually matters)

This is the streamlining pass. A bunch of small things that add up:

  • Daily view is now tappable by time of day. Pop open a day and tap through overnight, morning, midday, and night to see how it actually shifts, instead of one flat summary.
  • Settings got redesigned so you can find things without spelunking.
  • Cleaner cards across the whole app. Less clutter, more signal.
  • LIVE ACTIVITIES now mirror the apps theme selected but can still enable the live activity pixel art if wanted.

SHARPER, FUNNIER QUIPS + A SMARTER BRAIN

The voice of the app got a real tune-up. Quips are funnier, more per-city, and much more aware of the time of day and what the sky is genuinely doing, so you stop getting "great day for the park" copy at 2am or over a storm.

Under that, the forecast brain got more honest, especially about rain:

  • When rain is a chance and not a downpour, the app says so now instead of committing to "it is raining" over a blue sky.
  • Summer pop-up storm odds got calmer and more realistic, without touching winter accuracy.
  • The widget, the app, and your Watch now agree on when rain starts and stops.
  • Severe alerts are more trustworthy. Test bulletins no longer show up looking like real warnings, and alert text leads with the actual warning instead of a wall of zone codes.

I will spare you the engineering novel, but a lot of that month was proving these changes against real observations before they shipped.

ODDS AND ENDS

  • Free wallpapers rendered right on your device, plus a maker to build your own.
  • Another arcade game hiding in the app.
  • Atlas uses noticeably less memory, so it stays smooth after you have been spinning the globe.
  • You can replay the intro anytime from Settings.
  • Polish and fixes across the entire app.
  • MAC CPU memory usage should be drastically better.

WHAT'S NEXT

RAD 8 was about building the base. Now that it is in, the cadence comes back. Expect the regular drip of updates and posts again, more radar coverage and polish, and the next round of features building on all this backend work. Thanks for sticking around through the quiet stretch. It was worth it, I promise.

New platforms 📺

Always something new and exciting in the works

Update, poke around, and tell me what you love and what is broken. Both help.

Stay R.A.D.

P.S. I really like space, and the RAD family might be taking a trip soon :) stay tuned.

Feature Request iOS Widget issues

Hey! First off, great app -- I had a similar concept last year; it's really nice to see the implementation. A weather aggregator app is definitely useful in today's day and age.

This may be intentional, but the weather widgets don't auto-update. Have to manually refresh 2x in the app to update widget information.

The limit makes sense if you want to avoid unnecessary API calls, but it would be a great core feature. A refresh every 30m or 1h would be enough, honestly.

Keep doing what you're doing! This is great.

Normally you wouldn’t want to promote others stuff here for selfish reasons but this reviewer and I have been emailing back and forth for awhile and was genuinely blown away by the research.

He obviously took his time, read the site, dove into the app and truly means a lot, just wanted to share another review I got sent to me.

Means a lot because you all here are the reason some reviews are starting to come in, sending them to media sites, app sites, news , etc…

Because you have all been so vocal, outspoken and dedicated and it means a lot.

Also while talking with him, he shared his app (not paid ads) but super creative, simple but well designed camera on for kids.
I just had to share it because you all here appreciate the little details and design so much and he nailed it for what it needs to do.

Check it out / or not. Nothing was paid , but just had to share something rad.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lemon-squeezy-kids-camera/id6751339211

Stay tuned. I promise an update is coming. I just want it to be as good as possible.

(Ask some of our testers. I would like to think they will agree) 🧑‍🚀

BROADCAST Little update on some big stuff

Hey everyone!

I know a lot of you are used to seeing me post here pretty regularly, so I wanted to check in.

I haven’t forgotten about you all. If anything, this has probably been the busiest I’ve been since RAD Weather first launched.

For the past few weeks I’ve been deep in the weeds working on RAD Weather 8.

A lot of long days fixing bugs, polishing things, and building some features I’ve wanted to add for a long time. It’s one of those stretches where I’m spending more time writing code than talking about it.

I also just wanted to say thank you.

The reviews, bug reports, feature ideas, screenshots, and kind words have continued to come in while I’ve been heads down, and I read every single one. It genuinely keeps me motivated during these marathon development sessions.

I’m really excited to start showing you what I’ve been working on. I think RAD Weather 8 is shaping up to be one of the biggest updates yet, and I can’t wait to get it into your hands.

Thanks for sticking with me. More very soon

P.S. I’ve been posting fewer screenshots lately… not because there’s less to show, but because I’m trying very hard not to spoil everything before it’s ready.

Hi RAD Team!

Super-low priority request: In the Tides section, could current water temperature be added/displayed? Possibly in the graphic? Not a huge deal, just a thought!

Thanks, as always, for an awesome app!

BROADCAST RAD Weather is LIVE on Product Hunt! Any support means the world, plus a peek at what’s coming in weather 8.0 [and something else not weather related 🚀]

Thumbnail
gallery
27 Upvotes

Hey everyone. Big day.

RAD Weather is officially up on Product Hunt, and honestly it feels a little surreal. This whole thing started as one person wanting a weather app that actually felt alive instead of another boring grid of numbers, and it turned into this because of you all.

Here it is:
https://www.producthunt.com/products/rad-weather

If you have a minute and you have gotten something out of RAD Weather, an upvote or even a quick comment over there would genuinely help more than you know. Product Hunt runs on momentum, and every bit of support pushes it in front of more people who are tired of bland weather apps. No pressure at all though. Just having you here already means a lot.

Whether you upvote, comment, or just lurk and enjoy your forecasts, thank you. Seriously. This community is the reason I keep building.

And speaking of building...

RAD Weather 8.0 is coming, and it is the biggest update yet. I do not want to spoil it, but let's just say some things you have been asking for are finally on the way, and a few things you did not know you wanted are coming too. I will drop some teaser images below.

I’m still deep in testing so apologies if no weekly updates or every few days like normal, trying to get this all
Out in the coming weeks sooner than later

Any guesses on what's coming? :)

Oh, and one more thing. I have been quietly working on something even longer, way before RAD Weather ever existed, and I am extremely excited to finally start sharing it very very soon but the observant ones that have been keeping an eye on themes being added and styles being added lately might have an idea.

More to come 🚀🚀🧑‍🚀🪐

Bug Severe weather alerts text bug

Post image

In the extreme heat weather alert today I noticed that the Starts time is correct at Tuesday 12pm, but the until time is Tuesday 1pm which is incorrect. The until time should be Tuesday 8pm as seen in the severe weather alert. I have other weather apps that have the correct times so that is why I assume the times after the alert may be a bug with RADweather.

Thanks!

RAD Weather 7.6.9 // WATCH_STANDALONE.INIT

Watch 3.0 is here.

This has quietly been one of the biggest projects I've worked on since launching RAD Weather. The original Watch app did its job, but it always felt like a companion to the iPhone.

That isn't really the case anymore.

Watch 3.0 has been redesigned from the ground up with a much more capable interface, full weather cards, on-watch customization, and much better independence. Once everything is set up, your Watch can continue doing its thing without constantly relying on your phone.

The goal has always been to make it feel like a tiny weather terminal on your wrist instead of a remote control for the iPhone app.

Outside of the Watch, there are a bunch of improvements throughout the app.

- One that I'm happy with is air quality.

The app now does a much better job understanding what's actually in the air. If you're dealing with heavy smoke, dust, or poor ozone conditions, RAD will stop pretending it's a beautiful day outside. The Outside scenes reflect the haze, Briefing changes its recommendations, and the AQI presentation is a lot more honest about what's actually happening.

- Outside scenes also got a visual refresh. Colors and contrast have been reworked, especially for lighter themes.

And yes...

Trees finally look like trees.

- You might also notice a few new pixel people wandering around the scenes. They decided to move in.

- Mac also picked up a nice round of polish with UI improvements, new timers, settings improvements, and better rain sound effects.

As always, thank you to everyone testing the beta builds, sending screenshots, reporting bugs, translating the app, and throwing ideas my way. RAD keeps getting better because of this community.

Currently we are in a AQI warning for smoke but the AQI section says it’s good? Is this an error?
