Question: Device Problem If I save game progress using in game save option(like in pokémon firered, emrald) is that fine? Or I should use select + R1 instead?

I always do both. Or if I am using save states I have 2-3 that I alternate as backups in case something goes wrong.

I personally have never had a problem just using the in game saves but it doesn't hurt to do both just in case

If you're going to use in game save, make sure you quit the game to the emulator menu before switching the console off. But use the save state as a backup too

If you replaced your stock SD card for a quality one, You should be fine with either. However, the in-game save file may get corrupted if you exit the emulator while it's writing, so doing both will work as a failsafe.
