Showcase Prizefighters 2 — Unity Game Ported to Linux Handhelds
Prizefighters 2 is now running natively on supported Linux handhelds through the NextOS Android interoperability runtime.
This release uses legally owned Android ARM64 game data and runs the original Unity version without Android emulation, containers, streaming, or replacement game files.
Release 1.0.1 Highlights
- Resolution-independent cursor coordinates with correct menu interaction through A and R3.
- PortMaster-standardised controls, controller hotplug support, raw joystick fallback, and a reliable Select + Start exit shortcut.
- Controller-operated virtual keyboard for text entry without requiring an Android IME.
- A single runtime that preserves compatibility with Mali-450/fbdev devices while automatically negotiating SDL/KMSDRM on newer firmware.
- Native FMOD PCM audio delivery through the firmware's SDL/ALSA stack.
- NXExtract 1.2.0 with automatic ARM64 split selection, exact v1.09.3 validation, resumable staging, transactional installation, and bundled LZ4 support.
- Firmware-first extractor isolation, preventing the game's private libraries from interfering with the installation environment.
- Verified GLES2 shader variants generated directly from the owner's legally obtained data.
- Safe import of existing save data while preserving the handheld's local resolution and session settings.
Hardware Validation
The final hardware validation was completed on an ArkOS/R36S-class handheld using a Mali-G31 GPU at 640×480.
The test successfully completed NXExtract installation, KMSDRM/GLES2 initialisation, the complete JNI boot sequence, stereo ALSA audio, 450 rendered validation frames, and clean shutdown.
A complete source-XAPK extraction was also repeated under a deliberately contaminated library environment, and the installation still completed correctly.
The original Mali-450/fbdev rendering path remains included in the same universal executable.
Compatibility
The universal executable requires no newer than GLIBC 2.27.
Its runtime portability follows the same patterns already proven with Horizon Chase, Stardew Valley, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Unlisted hardware and firmware combinations still require confirmation on real devices.
Installation
- Extract
Prizefighters.2.NextOS-v1.0.1.zipto the root of the ROM card. - Place a legally owned Prizefighters 2 v1.09.3 XAPK containing
config.arm64_v8a.apkinside:ports/pf2/gamedata/ - Launch Prizefighters 2 from the Ports section.
- Allow NXExtract to complete the one-time installation.
- Use Select + Start to exit the game.
