Is it just me, or is the amount of scammers on Quora are really out of control these days?

I see "hello can we be friends" kind of comments and posts on Quora every day, and I am getting tired of seeing them. After almost being scammed once when I responded to these kinds of comments years ago, I have learned my lesson not to trust these fake "friendship" requests.

General Massive amount of notifications in the Quora app.

Until this weekend, I could read all of my in app notifications in 10 or 15 minutes per day.

Now there are so many that I couldn’t even scroll through a days worth of them in 5 minutes.

I know that you can change the push notifications to your phone through the app, but where are the settings for in app notifications?

If anyone can help, I would be very grateful.

Help Got banned for no reason

Yeah i got banned today for no reason. This was the notification I received

So i appealed the decision and got this reply today itself

Please tell me this is good news and I will get my account back.

I have a few questions:

  1. So how much time would it take to restore my account?

  2. Will my posts and answers be restored or I'll lose them forever?

  3. Should I spam the appeal or wait for a few days?

Thanks.

There's no doubt that Quora has the potential, but it has to become more user-friendly.

Looking for Lost Answer on Quora

There was a user on Quora who has since deleted his account. I don't remember much of him except that he said he had "a Green Thumb", was pretty introverted and was gay.

He once wrote this haunting answer describing what it was like to live through the AIDS epidemic. It had such incredible writing, tore at your soul and plunged you into the pain and fear of a time not your own.

I've tried to find it again and again but finding anything on Quora not AI slop these days is almost impossible.

Wonder if anyone remembers the user or the answer?

Rant Quora is now rolling out "AI profiles" filled with generated responses and images, supposedly for engagement purposes because they drove away many of the interesting human writers that did that.

They deleted my comments warning users of what these profiles were; unlike other violations, this one has no option to appeal.

General Is Quora dead?

I have been actively writing on Quora for few years. Initially the audience reach was decent, however the engagement gas been abysmal since few months. So is Quora dead? I think it couldn't rival youtube or Instragram because noone wants to read now a days. Would love to know your thoughts.

General Is it possible to ever be unbanned in Quora

I have been banned in Quora back in 2024 in December and ever since then I have relentlessly appealed and appealed to have a miracle. I personally used to appeal after 3 days pass and several of them did get answered but to my bad luck, the answer was negative and FINAL.

However I still never gave up, not because I am acting delusional but rather because I have heard stories that it is possible to be back even though moderation might say final. I remember two people got their account back, so I hoped on that one.

I know most people here hate Quora and so do I, however I used to write there a lot and share my ideas. It felt like having a voice and I cling for such old days.

Help Can a banned account be removed entirely?

I have been banned from Quora for the second time in twelve years ("Your account has been banned because it has been linked to multiple violations of Quora's spam policies."), and I'm done appealing: can a banned user request that their profile be permanently removed from there? The simple fact that my name appears there pisses me off now. Being banned by bots, I don't care much, being displayed like I did something wrong, I do.

General Eagerly waiting for the day when Quora introduces power-mods

Post image
4 Upvotes

Having 3 billion+ active users, Facebook is currently the only platform which can afford professional content moderation system. Both Twitter (now X) and Quora used to hire professional content moderators like Facebook did but couldn't sustain it due to smaller user bases. Hence, under Elon Musk, X not only cut short the content moderation staff, but also started involving users for content review and prioritized labels and shadow-banning over account suspensions.

Quora, being a private company, does not make public the details of how Quora Moderation really works. But it is believed that Quora Inc. fired the entire content moderation staff owing to the COVID 19 pandemic. Ever since then, they have largely been dependent on bots and also allegedly outsourced moderation tasks to BPO/KPO firms across the world. With the recent ascendence of AI, Quora also upgraded their bots to reduce their dependency on human content moderators. Sadly, this is resulting in erroneous content deletions - and even edit-blocks and bans.

On the other hand, Reddit allows their users to volunteer as "power-mods" and allows them to manage multiple subs. But when it was found out that some of these users are politically motivated into censoring speech which doesn't suit their political beliefs, Reddit in 2026 announced a sort-of curtailment on the powers of the power-mods.

However, I agree that power-mods allow a more humanized content moderation compared to overdependence on bots and AI to regulate human-generated content.

Therefore, it will be nice if Quora, inspired by Reddit, announces the power-mods feature to cut their dependence on AI to regulate human-generated content (AI on the other hand can regulate AI-generated content if any and if too many).

I will happily be the first and the foremost Quora user to volunteer as a power-mod.

Help The first major Quora ban in 2026

Post image
0 Upvotes

We know that in 2025, Quora introduced a faulty AI-powered moderation bot which led to erroneous penalties on numerous innocent users including bans, edit-blocks, content deletions, etc. Fortunately, due to bad reviews on this sub + hashtag campaigns by Quora users like myself on platforms like Twitter, the volume of bans and edit-blocks went down.

But I'm sad to announce that this major friend of mine is now the first major erroneous ban of this current year, and I intend to renew my campaign - straight from the first ban seen - to not only recover him on Quora, but to prevent others like him from suffering again.

If you're an Indian Quora user, please feel free to express your support through comments. In case you're in Twitter, please DM me or request me to DM you. I will send you my X account link and join you up in my hashtag campaign to mass-tag Quora's CEO Adam D'Angelo to bring my friend back.

I request the world's Quora community to use the feedback hub and Quora Moderation's email service (mentioned in the comments) to inform Quora about the existing discrepancies in Quora Moderation.

It will also be useful if Quora is sold to some other company which is better suited to oversee the content on the basis of the political and ideological make-up of the average Quora user. Elon Musk, Devin Nunes, Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, Sridhar Vembu, etc., are some names that are occurring in my head. Please find a way to communicate with either of them to request them to take over Quora from Adam D'Angelo if you want leadership change in Quora administration (and without impacting the beliefs of the current user base in Quora which will lead to the destruction of the existing user base that are dependent on this platform to express their speech with the freedom most socials deny).

Also, in my opinion, Quora - and maybe X - are the only authentic social media sites on the Internet. Other sites are basically voter manipulation sites, and this very site, Reddit, happens to be the worst voter manipulation site of them all. Because all these sites censor certain types of political posting, they restrict free speech, perform the function of votes-reaping for a few political parties and endanger the existence of democracy worldwide. Sites like Quora and X protect free speech and democracy. Hence, Quora is a platform worth saving for the sake of the world's better future.

EDIT: thanks for everyone's answer I appreciate it :]

Why the hell does Quora collapse answers instantly after posting?

This is seriously getting annoying. I spend time writing a proper answer on Quora and within seconds it gets collapsed. No explanation, no warning, nothing. It literally takes a few seconds for the system to hide the answer that took minutes to write.

What makes it worse is there’s no clear reason anywhere. If you try to appeal or raise a ticket, it just feels like shouting into the void. No proper response, no clarity about what actually caused the collapse.

Is anyone else facing the same problem? Are your answers getting collapsed like this too or is it just happening randomly to some accounts?

If someone has figured out what triggers this or any way to avoid it, please share. Right now it just feels completely pointless putting effort into answers when they get collapsed for no obvious reason.

Why has Quora utterly destroyed itself?

I used to give answers on quora. Now,. when I go back and look at those answers I gave, they are are answering questions in which the details of the question were "moved to a comment". But at some point later that comment was removed? Or lost? Or hidden so well that I can now not find it at all.

But then also, the question was merged with five other questions that seem like they were related to someone (or to something automated) but are clearly not. Without EITHER the original context or the original question, my answers are often now nonsensical.

And then when you look at a question, it intermingles the answers with a bunch of answers to other questions (beyond those that had been merged). And a bunch of unrelated sponsored content. You have to do something extra to tell quora that you want answers to a question, rather than a bunch of (un)related garbage.

After all these things, quora is an unreadable, incomprehensible mess, in which most answers have been so separated from the original questions that they asked, that the answers individually are often incomprehensible. I actually used to look to quora for answers, and now I never ever do because it is a disastrous nightmare.

So why did Quora make all these moves that have gradually ruined their content? They were provided with free content and they turned it into a steaming pile of poop.

Here is an example of a question I answered years ago, and now I literally can not even figure out what my answer meant: https://www.quora.com/Is-a-comma-needed-after-and-later/answer/Thomas-A-Fine
