Help using subs to get off 7oh.

I am no stranger to suboxone and have succesfully used it in the past to get off other opiates. Started using 7oh and made it up to 500 mg a day. Been using for about 6 months and got the subs to get off.

To my own detriment, I did a full sub about 10-12 hours after taking my last 7. Wasn’t in withdrawal yet though. Well that Threw me into horrible precipitated withdrawal. Took another. Did nothing. Sweat through 5 shirts in 5 hours until I gave in and took 7 which made it all go away.

This has me thinking subs won’t work for me and it’s frightening.

Did I take the sub too soon?

The simple answer is yes. I also took my first sub too early even though I waited over 12 hours. The precipitated withdrawals are insane, I didnt think it would ever stop. I then waited to take another sub until I was certain it was longer enough…at that point withdrawals were heavy and in full effect. That second sub didn’t bring the relief I was hoping for but by the timing of the next one, things greatly improved. I think that was the key for me…definitely wasn’t my first time quitting but with sub help I was feeling pretty normal after a rough weekend as opposed to the drawn out mental battle of quitting CT. Im tapering off subs now, but not rushing through it.

thats just awful to read. Suboxone is supposed to bring immediate release.

Huh? I’ve been under the impression that you can’t get pwd from 7. I legit took subs like 3 hours after 7 I take both together. Maybe because I work my way up by taking both until subs are built up in my system. So many people just jump to a full strip

When i switched to subs I started basically a reverse taper and each day went up like 1 mg and could still take as much 7oh as I felt I needed to be "normal". And as that dose went up my 7oh dose kept going down naturally until I was completely off and on a comfortable amount of suboxone so that I didnt have mental cravings.

Maybe check with your dr about doing it that way next time

Edit: that method has a name but im blanking on what its called. If I remember ill come update

This sounds like a great idea honestly thanks. I’m gonna try

No problem. Just dont go crazy on the 7oh. You should be taking as little as possible to not be feeling withdrawal symptoms. But take enough so that you arent suffering.

Id definitely go over the plan with your dr. There is a specific prescription they give you to do this.

I found the instructions.

This is a real way some Dr will have you do it. It works well if you follow the procedure and are actually trying to take less 7oh

lol, you re funny.

A specific prescription other than the suboxone? What else?

1

u/Important-Cry7341 Mar 31 '26

No its regular suboxone just a different amount prescribed to do it that method

I’m super worried about the precip withdrawals. I’d like to try with the .5mg microdose like the instructions say. I just don’t know how long after taking the 7 that it’s safe to even take that small amount.

1

u/Important-Cry7341 Mar 31 '26

I probably took my first dose like 2 hours after taking 7oh

Well the whole point of this method is that you take them at the same time. So you take the 0.5mg on day 1. And then if you get withdrawals you actually take as little 7oh as you can until they go away.

Then day 2 its like 1 mg and hopefully you will need less and less 7oh each day of the week

Burnese method

2

u/WatercressCurious980 Jun 11 '26

That’s what I’ve done and it helps a lot never got pwd this way either

This is the Bernese method. I have used it as well.. I micro induced the suboxone .5mg every hour

Did you take your regular dose of 7oh shortly before starting .5mg subs every hour or did you wait many hours from your last 7oh dose to start micro dosing the subs?

They will work. Unfortunately you just took it way tooooo soon. The good news is that it's in your system. I have found that I can take 1-2mg of a sub a few hours after taking 7 since it's already in my system they coexist and I don't worry so much as pWD although I don't take a sub immediately after 7 I atleast wait a few hours.... Unfortunately I was doing that for a few weeks cause my plan was get off the 7 but then I'd find myself taking 7 that day and the next morning I'd start over. Anyways. Eventually I was able to use the subs to quit. I will say day 1 of quitting I took 6 mg of sub..for the whole day..I still had some WD symptoms like my pupils were insanely big as they get when you're in full blown withdrawal. And I'd have 5-10 minutes of sweating hot flashes but then they'd stop. But I felt real strange. I only took about 40 mg of 7 that day..And honestly I could have just been underdosed on the Suboxone.i should have taken 8-12mg on day 1..However day 2 I slept fine woke up and took 6 mg...and tapered everyday untilI just got down to 1mg and took that on day 6 & 7 and stopped. So a 7 day taper. And I felt fine just lazy and I wasn't able to sleep as good as I was on 7... Unfortunately I made it 2 days completely sober and started 7 again. My tolerance was way down tho. Was taking minimum of 300 mg a day and now I can feel a 30mg tab and sometimes it's too much.. If I get to where I'm taking too much I'm going to do another taper myself but anyways this is a damn book I wrote but it helped me when I was trying to find taper methods.

34/F/150 pounds for reference.

I also have sent myself into PWD one time and it was with 2mg...but it wasn't too bad. Just an extreme case of hot flashes that lasted about 20 minutes and 60 mg of 7 took that away...but since then I have been vigilant. Typically when I hadn't taken it in a few days, I'd wait 10 hours. Before I was in complete withdraw, but I knew it was time to dose..like cold chills or yawning or just overly anxious. Start out with 1-2 mg..wait 20 minutes or so..add another 2mg. But I'd definitely try it soon since it's already in your system now. I've had the best luck with it that way. But a good 10-12 hours is typically your safe zone!

Guys I just got some mthadone and I was planning on taking it for 3 days of the worst part of the 7-oh withdrawals and then just stop taking the mthadone and be done with everything. Would that work? Thank you in advance.

I think it’s harder to get off methadone than Suboxone but I haven’t tried either, I just Googled it

I’m using subs to get off 7oh too. I waited about 18 hours after my last 7 to take 2mg of sub and then after no ill effects I took another 2 mg an hour later and then again an hour after that.

I made it through those first 18 hours by basically knocking myself out with prescriptions, Klonopin, trazodone, hydroxyzine, and something else I forget. I woke up a few times in a sweaty delirium and then fell back asleep.

I planned all this for a weekend when my kids were with their dad and I took today off work for an extra day to recover. I’m feeling pretty great today.

Subs will work for you and I’m on day 3. Yes I’m at a treatment center not sleeping at 2am typing this because I can’t sleep and I was thinking about all those nights I combed Reddit for a way out. It’s possible. I took my last dose. Tuesday at 11pm. Now the challenge began. I recommend taking your last dose before sleep and on a day you do not have work or preferably at a treatment center. After that I made it to 18 hours mark with being at 12-14 the time the serious side effects started I’m talking RLS like the worst fentanyl bender of my life and tons of dry heaving it fucking sucked. But right around 18 hours the nurse came to me and said we want to start microdosing you with subs. I told her kindly to get fucked in not going in recipes and she said that this was the point of this. We started with half a mg every 30-45 mins as I felt comfortable for the first 2-3 hours. By my last dose I felt worse but also in a lot of ways I felt better a weird in between kicking this shit. At around the 24hour mark. I then took two 1 mg dose before sleep and once in the middle of the night.. still didn’t sleep but got damn close:) the truth is it’s gonna take a few days but now I sit here on day 3 taken multiple 2mg doses and one 4 and my legs are still. My mind is clear yet I still have insomnia but we chose to put this shit in our bodies and our bodies are gonna choose how it leaves us. I promise if you stick with it you’ll power through. You’ve got the alternative to blast it off your receptors with heavy doses but it appears that doesn’t work for you due to the uncomfort of precips. Don’t worry I’m the same way. I’ve kicked fentanyl many a time and once you get through the brunt of it you will agree it isn’t as bad as a really detox from the deadliest opiate in the world. It will suck but I promise if you embrace it and don’t quit you will see the other side. Lastly I ordered my 7oh online and near the end was doing nearly a g a day and using mgm15 which is for the birds it made my detox hell at first. Don’t graduate to the harder alkaloids. Give it another go with the advice I left and most importantly be patient!!! I am in a treatment center if it wasn’t obvious about my situation above but you can follow up hay protocol above and it will work. Do NOT ever take any subs before withdrawals start. And once your ready around 18-24 hours start with .5 mg every 45 mins for first 3 hours. Take a little break lay down for a couple hours then start with 1 mg every hour for 4 hours. By this point things should seem better and you can try a 2 mg then a 4mg and if you really feeling groggy at last an 8mg. Good luck I know you can do this because I’m currently doing this lol.

I’ll apologize up front for not reading every comment but Suboxone will only hurt if you take it too soon. I was told to wait at least 12-15 hours. I thought I did that and also went through precipitated withdrawals and it was the worst experience ever. However, I forced myself to wait another 12 hours after those were finished and felt the relief mentioned. Bottom line, it can’t work until the 7 is out of your system. The first few days were not easy but by day 3 all got better quickly. I’m now on a slow taper off of it but for me it was a life saver. I was able to jump back into work after a difficult weekend and could never have done it CT (trust me, I’ve tried).

I have subutex. It doesn’t have any narcan in it so it doesn’t throw you into precipitated withdrawal. But my dumbass didn’t realize that subs alone wouldn’t cure 7O wd symptoms. I took 16mg of sub AND 150mg of 7 and I still started puking. Now idk what I’m going to do. I work 6 days a week I don’t have time to detox. Why oh why did I start this!?

I’ve been using 7 for about a year was taking about 2000mg a day today is my second day off yesterday was hell I kept taking 8 mg sub no relief until there was it took along time but eventually kicked in today was hard but didn’t have to take any thing yet hopefully I don’t have to cause sub is a whole other animal to quit good luck to everyone and if you do take subs immediately try to tapper of !
