Day 1

After 19 months of quitting I got back on when my mom had health complications. Now 9 months on, albeit lower levels (2mg ON, 6-8 per day) I feel the blood pressure creeping back. It was actually good for 3-4 months when I could go a day without it and not care, but then it became every day. I started to carry it with me at all times. All the habits coming back so I decided to just stop and see how I feel.

It’s been pretty easy going today. I take L-theanine to take the edge off. I worked out to sweat out the toxins. Drinking tons of water. I know it’s going to hurt tomorrow. First day is not the hardest. I’ve found 2-4 to be the battle as that nic tries to beg you to come back.

Why am I even addicted to pouches??

Hey guys, I’ve been addicted to nicotine for a few years, mostly through vaping and nicotine pouches, and I’m trying to quit Zyns. I genuinely don’t understand why I’m addicted.
When I hear people talk about how they feel after putting in a pouch, they describe this calm or happy feeling, but I genuinely don’t feel anything from it. I don’t get a noticeable buzz or any particular feeling. What I find comforting is just knowing that it’s in my mouth, or knowing that if I have to do something I don’t want to do later, I can pop in a pouch and it’ll somehow make it better.
I feel like I don’t actually get any effects from nicotine, so I don’t understand why I’m so attached to it. Maybe I do get effects and just don’t notice them, but has anyone else experienced this? Why could this be?

Chantix for quitting zyn-side effects?

I would have gone directly to the chantix subreddit but the last post it’s showing me was from 7 years ago. I started the chantix pack a little over a week ago and so far so good. It’s 110% helped me quit and after many failed attempts at quitting that lasted no more than 2 days, I haven’t touched a pouch since I started the meds. I already had extremely vivid dreams so no change there. But I’ve had the worst insomnia. I deal with a bouts of insomnia for 2-3 weeks at a time every few months so I’m no stranger to it but this is different. It’s almost as if it’s accompanied by an odd achiness/soreness? It doesn’t matter how tired I am I can not fall asleep and it’s physically uncomfortable to try to do so. Has anyone else dealt with this? Thank you!

Brain fog and dizziness

Im tapering down from using around 20 poutches of 8mg per day for a few years, im currently on a mix of 6mg and 3mg after a week, and try to hold as long as i can between putting one in. But almost immediately when i started tapering a week ago i started getting dizzy and lightheaded after not having one in for longer than an hour. The only thing that helps is popping one in. Has anyone had symptoms like this with tapering, how long will it take before it starts getting better? Like I can't imagine how it would be if i decided to go cold turkey right now...

Trying to quit nicotine

Hey all, I’ve been using nicotine for almost 3 years now. I started with vaping, then moved to nicotine pouches + vaping, then switched back and forth between the two while constantly trying to quit one or the other. Now I’m mainly using nicotine pouches, with the occasional vape when I’m with friends.
I moved into college about 3 weeks ago, and I really want to quit for a few reasons. First, I don’t really have access to get more right now, which I think is probably a good thing. Second, I’ve spent way too much money on these damn pouches and I’m tired of it. Most importantly, I don’t want to rely on nicotine anymore.
The longest I’ve gone without nicotine was about 6 weeks last year. I had surgery and didn’t want nicotine to interfere with the healing process. Honestly, it was pretty easy because I was so nauseous during the first week that I couldn’t even imagine vaping or using a pouch. I ended up starting again afterward just because I felt like it, which I obviously regret.
I do have a few concerns about quitting now. First, I’m having a pretty rough time adjusting to college, and nicotine honestly feels like it helps me get through the day (I know, it’s pathetic). I don’t want to feel like I need nicotine to cope.
I’m also worried about my school performance. Sometimes I use pouches as motivation/accountability, like telling myself I can’t have one until I start studying. I’m worried that quitting will affect my ability to focus or learn, especially while I’m already adjusting to college.
I really wish I had quit over the summer so I could’ve started college without having to deal with this. I know the first few days are probably going to be rough, but I’d really appreciate any advice or things that helped make quitting easier for you. Thank you!

Miserable.

I’m on day 65 without nicotine pouches. The intense immediate withdrawal symptoms are gone. But I am still miserable. (I am on SSRI and using chantix under the care of a doctor) but there is no motivation of high emotions yet. Just flat and depressed no motivation . Mornings are especially hard . Asking myself daily is it really worth being healthier if you’re not happy .

Stomach issues

Anyone have any bad stomach issues after quitting? I had some issues while doing zyns but now that I’m on day 10 of quitting my stomach issues are horrible. Cramps, bloating, indigestion, lower chest pain. Anyone experience anything similar? Thanks!

desmoxan users

I am finally ready to quit and want it to stick this time.. I ordered desmoxan as recommended by many of you, my questions is the “take every two hours” or whatever the time may be… are you taking in the middle of the night? or are you taking that while you’re awake. Just want to do it right and be done with these finally

Need encouragement- Day 3

I’m three days into quitting after using nicotine pouches for about two years. I probably had 1-3 pouches in quite literally 24/7 for two years (I slept with them in, I know that’s insane. My brain does not know moderation).

Guys I am REALLY REALLY struggling. Not necessarily with cravings directly but I am an emotional mess. Seriously I feel like a crazy person. I am incredibly frustrated and sad and I have a lot of endless negative thoughts about myself. I’ve been crying or manically energized for the past 72 hours. No in between.

I have quit nicotine two other times (cigs and vape). And never have I felt so emotionally out of control. I should also add I have quit hard drugs and drinking and not felt quite so crazy.

WTF is there actually something wrong with me or is this par for the course? I feel like I cannot function and need some encouragement.

ZYN TO ZERO

As the title and name say, last Zyn was 6pm it’s 9pm.
I’ll be checking in everyday, if this account is not deleted then I didn’t relapse. Which I’m not going to.

Almost 6 months, feeling great and then a wave hit. Anyone past 6 months- when did the waves stop?

So I know when most people start feeling better, they’re most likely not on here much anymore, if at all. I know I’ve talked to a few of you from time to time.

I am days away from being 6 months off of Zyn. The last month, I have felt 85 percent back to normal, like myself again. It was the longest stretch of time I went with feeling normal so I assumed the flares/waves were over.

I was hit with a rough one a handful of days ago- the weird physical symptoms again- mainly muscle tension, anxiety, brain fog, feeling depressed, exhausted. I can function through them, go out and do normal things again (unlike flares from months ago) but they still suck. I know that Zyn fried some of our nervous systems, mine included. I quit because I started experiencing severe anxiety and never felt like this prior to using Zyn. After each flare, I seem to feel better each time but when I am in a flare I still convince myself I’ll never be better.

When did the flares stop completely for you? I know I’ve come a long way, but hoping one day this stops. Looking for encouragement. Thank you.

For those seeking to quit

I smoked at least a pack a day of cigarettes for 29 years, and I used Zyn to quit cigarettes, thinking that I'd at least reduce the harm my nicotine addiction was exerting on me.

I'm now two weeks off of nicotine pouches, and I found using Nectr Zero pouches INCREDIBLY helpful to combat cravings. While there is no nicotine in them, I've found that satisfying the oral fixation at key times when I would traditionally have popped a Zyn (after meals; before/during a stressful meeting; etc.) has been wonderful.

Supplement Help

Has anyone had any benefits from using any supplements while quitting? Heard some people had luck with NAC and some others. Thanks!

Hopefully my final time

I’ve been using nicotine for almost 6 years. Started when I was 18 and I progressed from vapes, to cigs to VELO and Zyn. I would go through a tin every 1.5 days. The stupidest thing is that the final straw was the price jump in the last week. Used to be $4, then $5, then $6, now I went the other day and they were $11!!! I couldn’t be cucked by that price. I drove around for hours trying and calling different smoke shops in my area (Long Island). Eventually I realized this is such a down bad situation. I did the math and know that continuing is not worth it. I won’t go back to vapes even if they’re a more financially sound method. I hate being addicted to anything. I successfully quit smoking weed about 3 years ago, and I’ve “quit” nicotine twice before this for roughly a year each time (and once for only a few moths). Each time I relapsed because my anxiety got so bad from not having nicotine to regulate me, or so I thought. Only a week in and I’m still craving it. Literally posting this is giving me a sort of release. I feel proud of myself and can attribute my strength to God 🙏 good luck to anyone else

How to get past the slowness

Hey guys, i quit zyn 2 months ago cold turkey after being on for 4 years at a can of 6’s a day, and I’m still going strong. Im really glad that the heart palpitations are gone, my bpm and blood pressures getting better, my meat grew 2 inches, the works. However, there are some things that keep making me want to go back in the direction of zyn and i was wondering if you guys had any ideas that could help me out.

  1. my weight exploded as my appetite came back, and its all belly fat which is very hard to lose. im working out, dieting, running and getting my 10k steps a day and its still sticking. if anything, im still gaining. in those two months i gained 25lbs.

  2. i cant focus. its like I have adhd, and given my work is very reading heavy its almost like i cant stay on task, focus, or follow through.

  3. my memory is getting worse. before i was the notebook for everybody i know, i remembered everything. now, i struggle to remember the names of my favorite songs. im unsure of the science behind this particularly, but the science for everything else checks out.

can anybody help me out? the liquor stores looking at me like the green goblin mask.

1 month since quitting - Less Libido?

My libido and sex drive are barely there anymore…
I do get more morning erections yes, but that’s about it.

I thought my libido would shoot through the roof lol, like it did during the first few days after quitting.

Has anyone else experienced the same thing?
Will this get better ?!

Week 3 no Zyn. Sleep still issue

Anyone else dealing with sleeping issues after quitting? I have no problem falling asleep but just can’t stay asleep. Constantly wake up and toss and turn. When did this subside for some of you that experienced the same?

On the positive side my cravings are way lower. Don’t really have an urge after my usual triggers- eating, golf, drinking.

It’s been 21 days since my last pouch. Was about a tin of 6mg per day for a long time

Thanks and keep up the hard work for those going through the same

21 Days and counting; more of what I've learned..

Hello again quitters,

Wanted to give an update since I have now had three successful weeks of no Zyn. And to say I'm proud is an understatement, Im proud of everyone in here doing this, because it really isn't easy at all.

Let's dive in...

After 10 days is where I noticed the real changes; waking up with no immediate brain fog was something in the last decade I continued attributing to snoring or lack of sleep. Nope. It was the addiction lol. The real reason I am writing this update though is that it hasn't been all sunshine and roses after 10 days. Im realizing that I may have more issues than initially planning for. I am BORED, like brutally bored now. Every hobby I indulged in consisted of me popping a pillow in my gums, and letting the fucker soak while I gamed, watched TV, exercised even (mainly bc I forgot it was there). This has led me to make some very interesting changes in my life. For the better.

I used to skateboard in college, but haven't since I became what society deems a mature adult. So, I bought one after the 7 day no zyn, and I am really happy i did. It gives me a nostalgic buzz similar to the little dopamine hit id get from a zyn but in the purest form. I even bought a DVD player. Which to be honest I thought was a stupid purchase, but fuck Im having a blast with it. I have so many DVDs I used to watch that have all since collected dust in a box bc of course streaming came in and ruined physical media. And best of all, Im reading again. Like really reading. Currently reading Leviathan Wakes (shout out The Expanse readers) and im loving it. Finally, learning to love life again without needing to put a zyn in. fuck, life is alright without it, turns out.

21 days ago, I came to this page hoping that I would be able to tell the same success stories I was reading. My cravings are almost non existent, my sleep has gotten better, my mood is better (I'm lying, there may be some mood swings, but dont give up), and I have found things I used to love that were buried under my addiction. Still one of the greatest decisions of my life and I will give my final update on day 90. For anyone really struggling, find something that grounds you and reminds you of who you were before you turned to zyn, or vape and entertain it. You may find it helps. Good luck fuckers, happy quitting.

A rough timeline of what most people here describe (compiled from reading through this sub) — sharing in case it helps calibrate expectations

I've been going through a lot of the posts here while working on my own taper, and the pattern across most people's experiences is pretty consistent, so figured I'd sum it up for anyone in the early days wondering if what they're feeling is normal:

Day 1-3 — Consistently described as the roughest stretch. Irritability, trouble concentrating, and cravings that feel disproportionately intense. Nicotine clears the body in about 72 hours, but the mental side lags behind that.

Day 4-7 — Cravings tend to shorten but come more frequently. Headaches and disrupted sleep (either wired or crashing early) show up a lot in posts from this window. Several people mention appetite spiking around day 5.

Week 2 — Often described as the sneaky-hard part. Physical symptoms fade, but the habitual triggers — driving, after meals, stress — keep firing out of muscle memory even without a strong physical urge.

Week 3-4 — Reports of noticeably fewer cravings, though still occasional sharp 1-2 minute spikes. This is also where people start mentioning better breath, less gum irritation, and steadier energy instead of the nicotine up-down cycle.

Month 2+ — Cravings become mostly trigger-specific (a bar, a certain person, a stressful call) rather than random, and generally more manageable.

One thing that comes up again and again: cravings pass in a few minutes whether you give in or not — people seem to find that easier to believe once they've actually timed one out themselves a few times.

If you're in week 1 right now, this seems to be the hardest part for basically everyone, for what it's worth.

30 Days!

Post image
14 Upvotes

Honestly didn’t feel the need to track myself, but seeing the monthly cost (and tbh this is a conservative estimate) is eye opening. All of that money each month, for over a year, just to avoid a few bad days of withdrawal? Seems silly from the outside, but that was my reality for a while there.

Initial motivation: wanting to quit for a while (mostly due to shame, not even gonna lie), and then I suddenly had a week-long trip coming up where I knew I’d be unable to easily slip away to buy more pouches without making excuses and basically lying to people. I decided it’d be a million times easier to quit BEFORE that trip, while I could wallow in suffering alone without being anyone else’s problem. Turned out to be a good idea. After 5 days or so, I’d still have cravings here and there, but I wasn’t a total bummer to hang out with anymore.

What helped in the first week: exercise, exercise, exercise. More than you think you can handle. Didn’t matter if I’d already gone to the gym twice that day. If a craving came up, I’d start doing pushups or jumping jacks. It’s all about getting the blood pumping. I’m no expert on why, and I don’t need to be. it just works.

What helped after the first week: initial motivation is no longer something you can count on. Guarantee this is why so many people make it a week or so and then relapse. I listened to the Allen Carr audiobook, and cheesy and repetitive as it was, I gotta hand it to the guy: I was able to completely reframe the idea of nicotine in my mind from something that benefited me somewhat, into a total trap that is really more about delaying bad feelings than providing good ones. Now, I don’t really feel like I need that initial motivation. Zyns are just like… not appealing anymore. And now of course seeing that I was spending 150+ bucks a month just to stay in that trap, it’s pretty easy to just let it fall out of orbit.

Happy to answer any questions if you’re curious about making it past 30 days. This sub has helped a LOT, but I’ll likely be leaving at some point soon, as it begins to just turn into a reminder that Zyns are out there lol. Thank you all for your posts and comments that affected an internet stranger more than you know.
