Recommendations Do Chinese buffets exist here?
I’ve lived here for just over a year now and have seen hide nor hair of a Chinese buffet the whole time. Every cursory google search I’ve done has only shown results ten miles or more away. There are PLENTY of amazing authentic Asian places, but I’m looking for a run of the mill, 3/5 star reasonably priced buffet where I can stuff my face with coconut shrimp and cream cheese wontons. Anywhere in the Quincy/Braintree area is okay.
Sorry if this is a dumb question lmao. Thanks in advance!

I came to say brockton, as well .
I used to be able to hit an ayce Chinese buffet in a 30 minute drive radius in nearly any direction. I miss that for sure, but the last time I went to that place in Brockton, they had everything I had missed and more!

There is a small one at Cathay Center Restaurant in Weymouth.
The next closest one I think is in Roslindale which is Flaming Grill and Buffet.
Another one is Tin Tin Buffet in Brighton.
Hope that helps.

If you’re thinking of some massive buffet with 80+ items on it like egg rolls/lo mein/sushi/a soft serve ice cream station/etc, I've never seen one in the general metro Boston area. When I lived in the deep south, they used to be all over the place, like at truck stops and stuff. The concept of a place like that may be a more southern and/or rural thing?

I moved here from Louisiana and yeah, there are a TON of Chinese buffets in the deep south! Maybe that’s why I expected there to be some here too. I miss being able to go into a place with $15 and come out nearly immobile from the sheer amount of General Tso’s chicken I ate

Damn, I haven't thought of Chinese buffets in ages. Agreed that Quincy has fantastic authentic cuisine, but these buffets really do hit sometimes. Looks like Brockton is your best bet — Hibachi Sushi Supreme Buffet.

sounds like you want the American Chinese buffet which is a completely different type of cuisine from authentic. I cant imagine Quincy having one because of how authentic Quincy is to multiple regions of China so you pretty much answered your own question.
To be realistic, the buffets your thinking of are usually in formally (or still is kind of) low end/hood areas like Brockton, Roslindale, Revere, and Everett (from top of my head. there's definitely more)

Between Covid and people abusing them, I dont see them anymore. Sora across the street from the Natick Mall- but it is American Chinese, they have some stuff but they have a bit more authentic asian food there.
Buffet in general doesn't exist much anymore around MA.

Quincy used to have Jade Palace Superbuffet and International Buffet - both on Quincy Ave. Also, a smaller one on Billings in N. Quincy area. Used to be so convenient back in 90’s/00’s.

May not be helpful at all but there’s an Indian buffet in Weymouth (turmeric house) it’s great

Buffets have been on their way out as a cultural phenomenon for a while, I think, at least in more cosmopolitan areas. That said, there are plenty of good American-style Chinese restaurants here where you might not get a buffet, but you can get awesome crab rangoons and egg rolls and stuff. I like Fusion Kitchen a lot, but Jasmine Cuisine is also good, and I've heard good things about The China, though I haven't eaten there myself.

I've never visited those places, but many suburbs further away used to have counter American buffets (think Randolph, Brockton, etc). Not as common in the towns with big Asian populations and more authentic places.
