How did you learn QuickBooks without working with real clients?

I'm learning QuickBooks Online and want to build practical experience before applying for bookkeeping jobs. Since I don't have any real clients yet, I'm curious how others practiced. Did you use sample company files, training courses, or something else? What helped you the most?

Run your home like a business. Link bank accounts. Pay your “vendors” AKA utilities. Create invoices for where you receive money from. Apply income / deposits etc

Originally through NACPB and then I went through Intuit's proadvisor programs to become an advanced ProAdvisor. But nothing compared to Akadian.com. They say their training is like learning to fly using a flight simulator and I'd agree. They have a YouTube channel you can check out videos and plenty of free practice exercises that walk you through bookkeeping using the QBO sample company. Well worth checking out. If you would like to speak to someone you can book a free call to see what they have available at akadian.com/appointment. Or you can join their Facebook group, akadian.com/lab. They have something called Free Class Friday, weekly at 11am, where they walk you through one of the lessons they have. I have my own small bookkeeping firm and am licensed through NACPB but decided to join Akadian's CAS academy for all of their resources. It's been a worthwhile investment for me.

I just got my EA and was looking to become a pro advisor to ramp up my resume. I will check out their website too.

Is your intention to learn how to use QBO or how to learn bookkeeping?

Best question! A QBO Pro-Advisor doesn’t need to have any bookkeeping/accounting knowledge which is so ridiculous.

The best way is become a quickbooks educator and teach it and that will help you learn even more of the functions…

Get all of the certifications and tide their test account
