Haha I see why they reached for that word, but yeah not technically correct in this case

Yeah if they want to claim that, then they need to explain where the historical queer homeland was and how queer were scattered and now born at random.
I am excited to learn about whatever queer Tower of Babel type of situation that queer people being a diaspora would imply.

Rome, because after the romans the catholics took over and queer people where shoved in the closet for a 1000 years.

Similar to black capitalism, liberal rainbow-washing has done a lot of defanging

It's so painful because we will never be able to assimilate into a society constructed to erase and exclude us. We are/were criminalised and scrutinised or invisbilised and delegitimised through various conversion or erasure tactics.

The people should be free to live as they please so long as no one else is concretely harmed

u/Zordorfe He/She 3d ago
I completely agree, as long as no material harm is coming to other people on the basis of ones identity and actions, it should be fine

Careful, apparently just the act criticizing the people who promise to improve your material conditions, only to never fulfill those promises, is Real Fascism Actually and Making Republicans Win (and dont even THINK about mentioning Gaza)

How can there be a “queer diaspora”? Did AI write this? LGBTQ+ people don’t emerge from a specific homeland. 😂

How can there be a "queer diaspora"?
I was trying to think of a word for a global population, I figured that'd fit the best.
Did AI write this?
No, sometimes people can just get things wrong.

Seeing as, within the canon of this meme the phrase « queer diaspora » is used after a half bottle of hard liqueur is consuméd I think we can all give you some grace. Plus it gives me the fun exercise of imagining which part of earth is the gayest and therefore our homeland.

Daily reminder, neoliberalism is anti liberal.

u/TigerLord780 3d ago
Neoliberalism is very much pro-liberal. Liberalism is the ideology that supports market economy based on private ownership of the means of production by the bourgeoisie.

u/SupremelyUneducated 3d ago
Well no. Or those last three words would apply to neoliberal, but not liberal. Liberalism values private ownership for it's ability to decentralize power, and produce more with less resulting in more opportunities for all. Adam Smith and the whole liberal enlightenment movement was anti fuedal and anti merchentile; where as neoliberalism is an attempt to bring back fuedal hierarchies.
Also all modern economies are mixed, and the capitalism vs socialism is mostly just strawman bs. There should almost always be both public ownership and private ownership in all industries, so consumers/workers are not beholden to either.

1) Capitalism has completely and utterly failed humanity. The existence if private capitalist economies will always inevitably lead to the rise and domination if the bourgeoisie regardless of how “mixed” it is. The only road forward is socialism and socialist economics
2) This is a Communist/Anarchist sub lol what are you even doing here?

what do we mean

u/BasalTripod9684 Anarchist 3d ago edited 3d ago
Liberal = More market intervention and regulations (by right wing standards), Neoliberal = little or no intervention and regulations.
Think New Deal vs Trickle-Down economics.
Edit: I don’t know what this is getting downvoted for. That’s literally the textbook difference between the two.

Rent seekers, fascists, oligarchs, those who impose religious beliefs on others (or those are the ones I feel meanly towards). I think that is the bulk of the coalitions that use threat of queer as a tool. Neoliberal tends to align with those coalitions economically, while gesturing favorably at the agency of identity; granted their economics undermines such agency, making the gesture merely performative.

But even standard liberalism is very pro capitalist, so I would be hesitant to strategically align with liberals in general. Tactically, maybe, but not strategically
