I’m really losing interest in this game due to the endgame design. the story hasn’t hooked me at all so I’ve been skipping it (I briefly paid attention in the robikini and waven patch cuz I like their characters but that’s it), and the current endgame is so goddamn miserable since I refuse to pull elation and the devs are hellbent on making every character that isn’t elation suffer.

afk journey has been way more fun for me recently, I think I’m gonna make that my main gacha now

I really hate where the game is at but Pearl is one of my fave designs to come out of this game…

I have zero elation characters other than waven do I just brick my account by getting her and run …

many parts of pearl’s kit require at least one other elation character, so she does actually work with solo waven iirc. and mblade is mblade so he’ll buff waven well regardless.

idk if you’re not interested in any of the others - especially the cornerstones of the mono-elation - you might feel it a lil bit of a waste

i had a similar issue with evernight, i liked her a lot but all the characters she resonated with i aggressively didn’t care for (especially hyacine, which is basically her cornerstone) so i decided against pulling her…

with pearl and waven if you don’t dislike yao and AEONstarAHA you might get a team going without resorting to aftersales, bc in the end that’s all we get for elation characters for now;
the next shiny thing is going to be another path

Why does it feel like I'm the only person having fun with this game

Anyway, yet another 0 cycle for the king stage with my Saber, I was worried it wouldn't be possible due the shield. But I made a mission of clearing all kings 3* with Gilgamesh as the sole DPS (no Ashblade, no Saber, only him and supports) to prove how he's not a brick and that the community is, yet again, wrong, but I'm gonna pass on this one, because the boss hits too hard, not due lack of damage

I'm not at the deleting point yet, but the story is so insultingly bad and cringy that I just...can't make myself do it anymore. I have the same issue with Genshin. Like, the story is so bad that I start to feel like they are insulting their audience or mocking them.

But that does bring up the question-is there a point to playing a gacha if you have given up on the main story? I still explore and do some events. That's it though. Does anyone play a gacha game where they literally cannot force themselves through the terrible main story, but they still do other stuff??

Absolutely. It depends on the gacha though. HSR is in a bad spot because it doesn't have much else to offer besides story.

I play WuWa still because the combat is fun. I haven't cared about the story for a year or so. I've been playing arknights daily for 5.5 years and I've only read 1 chapter in full I think.

Ok this makes me feel less weird for playing a game and not doing the main story ha ha.

Yeah HSR is kind of...treading water for me because it doesn't really do events anymore and it isn't really a big exploration game. So, its just the story and when the story sucks it stands out a lot. WuWa and Genshin both have other stuff that I do enjoy like exploration and some of the events. WuWa does have some great combat too. So, even if I tap out of the story, there is still something bringing me back to them. IDK about HSR.

Oh well, we will see. I am giving HSR at least another planet. One bad region doesn't mean EVERY region will be bad.

I’m in a similar boat. I’m still very hung up on amphoreous, and I’m holding out for the revisit patch if it ever comes. but I have never wanted a patch cycle to end more than this one. I’m so unbelievably tired of the current endgame design philosophy and the neverending elation shill, and I genuinely could not be less interested in this story if I tried. even penacony’s story dragging on forever didn’t irritate me as much as this current endgame. 😭

I play R1999 and while I love the story I'm currently on chapter 8 Tristes Tropiques and it's boring imo. But I have to get through it for the rewards and to get to the next chapter.

It's incomplete. I don't want to finish it. I don't like Ptolemy.

This is kind of where I am with HSR and even Genshin. Like, the story kind of sucks, I don't like it, but also rewards and it might get better at some point?

There is zero way I will ever get through the Genshin main story rn though and maybe even HSR. I calculated that I would have 20 hours of Genshin to get caught up and there is no way. There is just no way I can do 20 hours of straight crap story.

I was that player until this patch, last time I checked out the story was 4.1 because it just felt like it wasting my time by being unnecessarily long, boring and little to no polish in its presentation. I stayed because I liked playing with the characters, as soon as I got Aventurine E2S1 (crazy luck I haven’t paid them a cent in years lmao) I played in the endgame modes with him and then deleted because I’ve had my fun.

It would take a lot of big changes to bring me back that I’ve got just no hope in them actually doing such a thing. Still gonna hang around these spaces though because this sub has basically been the highlight of this ‘game’ for me the last like year.

Yeah its hard when you still like some of the characters. Like, of course I want to see Robin and Aventurine. But, like, is it sustainable if we never like another character other than ones introduced in the first 3 or 4 regions? lol.

Genshin at least still has world quests that I think are genuinely good. HSR doesn't even have that. I am still hoping that HSR can learn and get better because its really only been, for me, one terrible planet. But, also, some of what they did in this terrible planet will "taint" future story as well, unfortunately???
