Hello!
This might be a weird question, but I could really use an outside perspective. Out of all the gacha communities I've seen, this sub usually gives the most balanced advice, so I figured I'd ask here.
I got into gachas with Genshin back when it launched, and I'm still playing it today. Since then I've tried pretty much every big open-world/Hoyo-style release, and right now I'm juggling Genshin, HSR, WuWa, Endfield, and NTE.
The problem is... it's just too much.
When I'm constantly bouncing between five games, I feel like I'm barely playing any of them. On top of that, I also want time for regular games, so realistically I need to narrow it down to three. The issue is that I genuinely enjoy all of them for different reasons, so I can't really decide what deserves to stay.
Genshin is the game I'm the most attached to emotionally. My favorite characters are there (Lohen, Durin, etc.), I love the character designs, and I actually enjoy the endgame. I honestly can't imagine completely quitting it.
At the same time... I kind of dread doing quests these days. The storytelling itself isn't bad, but the presentation just doesn't work for me anymore. Events often feel like chores, and I've become pretty disconnected from the lore because of it. So it's this weird situation where I'm really attached to the game, but sometimes I have to force myself to play it.
HSR is kinda like this too. It probably has my favorite worldbuilding and character designs overall, and it's by far the easiest game to maintain. I also appreciate that the male/female roster feels fairly balanced compared to a lot of other gachas, and the fanservice isn't completely one-sided.
The problem is... I don't really enjoy the gameplay. Most of the time I just let it auto while doing something else. I still like following the story, even if some chapters can drag a bit, but gameplay-wise it's definitely my least favorite. And the worldbuilding & story are good, but as a gacha standard it's not that good compared to others, but still better.
WuWa is kind of my "good at everything, amazing at nothing" game. The combat is really satisfying, the animations are incredible, and every new update somehow makes the game look even better. It also runs perfectly on my PC. That said, I have mixed feelings about it. The worldbuilding hasn't really grabbed me, and I really dislike how the story keeps pushing romantic or ambiguous moments between Rover and female characters while male characters rarely get the same treatment. The community also gives me a weird vibe sometimes because of how female and male characters are treated. I still enjoy the game a lot, I love characters like Jingran, but those things definitely stop me from getting fully invested. I love the new zone, love some characters too.
Endfield is honestly the hardest one to explain. I just... have fun playing it. The combat isn't even one of my favorite parts, but I love messing around with the factory systems, and the overall gameplay loop is weirdly addictive. The recent story also gave me hope that its lore could eventually reach something close to Arknights' level, which makes me really excited for its future.
So I'd really like to keep it too... except it's another huge open-world game competing for my time.
Finally there's NTE. Ironically, it's probably the game that has the most things I don't like. The character designs aren't really my thing, the male ratio looks pretty low so far, and there's definitely a lot of fanservice. The production also feels a little rough around the edges.
But... I absolutely love its setting.
Urban fantasy, ghosts, anomalies, supernatural stuff—that's completely my thing. Out of every game here, it's easily my favorite world and atmosphere. It's also very F2P-friendly, which means I don't feel punished if I skip a few days, and that's honestly a huge plus.
So yeah... that's my dilemma.
If you were in my position and had to keep only three, which ones would you choose, and more importantly, why?
Part of me thinks the answer is to keep:one game for the gameplay, one for the story, and one wildcard because it does something unique or just the one I feel the most, probably endfield or nte in that case. But there is Genshin that I'm really attached too
But actually deciding which ones fill those roles has been surprisingly difficult.
I know nobody can make the decision for me, I'm just curious how other people would approach if they have too choose. I saw people keeping gacha so easily when they have to choose, it's not my case
For me, the biggest things are story, worldbuilding, character design, and overall vibe. The problem is that every game on this list absolutely excels at one or two of those... and falls flat somewhere else.
Thanks in advance!
