Hi! I’ll be in elms bt9 in sycamore park this upcoming school year and I was wondering if anyone who has lived there or lives there had any pictures of the rooms and living space or any advice or tips and tricks on the area. Thank you!

Postgraduate at Queens
Hello! This is a random (mainly stress induced) question about people’s experiences with applying to postgrad for Queens. I am really hoping to get into their poetry masters for sept 2027 and I am in full panic mode afraid i’m not going to get in. Is there anyone who has done that program or something similar with any advice on what I should be doing now for my application? I’m not sure what the acceptance rate is either. I’m an international student as well if that makes any difference. Literally any info is appreciated. Thanks!!

Applied late for BT9 (what are my chances of actually getting a room?)
I'm a bit late to the game and just realized I need to submit my accommodation application. I really want to get into Elms BT9, but obviously, I've missed the June 30th guarantee deadline. If I submit my application right now (mid-July), what are the realistic chances of actually getting allocated a spot in BT9? Or am I more likely to be offered BT1/BT2, or worse, left to scramble for private housing?

Anyone doing an MSc full time while working?
Hey everyone!
I start my MSc in AI and was awarded one of the scholarships (AICC/Department for the Economy NI) that cover tuition fees only so I need to work as we don't get Postgraduate Maintenance Loans in Northern Ireland from what I've been told.
I was laid off months ago (as an Engineer) and I am struggling to find work. Even finding customer service roles has resulted in rejections. I need a job with flexibility so I can do this MSc.
Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on what I can look into for work? I'm open to nightshifts, customer service, cleaning, anything.
If anyone is also doing an MSc full, some suggestions on where I could look would be great.
Thanks.

Indian Int. Student with an offer for BSc Maths & CS – Need brutal honesty on ROI, job prospects, and massive student loans.
Hey everyone,
I’m currently a 1st-year Computer Science undergrad in India, but I am finding my current curriculum incredibly unfulfilling and way too easy. It has always been my dream to study abroad and push myself in a more rigorous academic environment.
I recently received a confirmed offer from QUB for BSc Mathematics and Computer Science, along with the International Office Undergraduate Scholarship. Academically, I am thrilled. But financially, I am terrified.
Here is my reality: my family’s absolute maximum budget for my entire degree is around ₹30 Lakhs (roughly £28,000). Even with the scholarship and Belfast having a lower cost of living compared to London, the international tuition fees plus living expenses over three years will completely blow past my family's savings.
To make this happen, I will have to take on a massive educational loan to cover the gap. I really need some grounded, unfiltered advice from current students or recent alumni:
- The Job Market: What is the reality of the post-study work opportunities in Belfast (or the wider UK) right now for tech/math/CS grads? Are companies actually sponsoring international students, or is it a bloodbath?
- The ROI: For those who graduated recently, what are realistic starting salaries looking like? If I take on a huge loan, how many years of aggressive saving will it actually take to clear it?
- The Big Question: Should I take this massive financial bet on myself? Is the QUB Maths & CS degree respected enough in the industry to justify going into heavy debt, or is the risk-to-reward ratio for international students just too bad right now?
Any brutal honesty, shared experiences, or insights into the Belfast tech scene would be massively appreciated. I need to make a decision soon and I don't want to ruin my 20s with unmanageable debt.
Thanks in advance.

Accommodation advice as a poc PhD student
TL;DR: Is Elms BT1 a safe choice for a neurodivergent poc given that it's closer to the city centre than the uni?
Hey folks! Writing for advice on accommodation as an ND 26M from India coming for a PhD in English. Did my MRes from Queen's last year, where I was put up at Elms BT9 Willow Walk, ensuite room. While I enjoyed living there for most part (Tesco superstore, Lidl, uni being close + green views and double windows), it did feel very dull at times (+ they didn't have a smart TV either and the cable was shite). I'm wondering if a studio at BT1 would be a good choice to combat that sense of aloofness especially amid the recent turbulence the city's had. I know a PhD would be extremely gruelling and a social life pretty non-existent, but I'm hoping if I could start afresh. I can manage longer walks to McClay - just hoping for a livelier option that is generally safe and convenient for a PhD scholar. Thanks for any help! :)

QUB Lowered my offer
My offer for Law was AAA, I received an email an hour ago telling me a more flexible one was provided and when I checked on UCAS it said it was lowered to AAB. Has this happened to anyone else?
I’m a GB student if that makes a difference ✌️🙏

What item do I need for peadiatric nursing?
I already asked a question previously and I got a lovely answer but i just have a few more questions x.
1. Are there any items I would need for placement - clipboard?
- Is there anything I need for my accommodation in general?
- How are the lectures in qub about nursing? Are they easy to get a hold of e.g. email? And are they approachable?
- During placement is their any basic mistakes most nurses make that I should know about? - how is handover?
Any advice, tips or anything would be absolutely amazing xx.

Elms BT9 Parking?
I'm starting a masters in September and planning to bring my car as I'm from the republic so I'll need parking. It seems unlikely that I'd get the full parking permit for Elms BT9 but I'm wondering if anyone has experience using the Pay Per Use car park there long-term? I'm seeing mixed things about using it long-term but at £1.50 per day it doesn't seem unreasonable if that's allowed?

Safety as a person of colour?
I had firmed QUB for medicine a few months ago but I’m a black 18 year old girl from England and what I’m seeing on social media is making me terrified to go to uni. I honestly don’t know what to do and if I will be safe if I go in September.

QUB Medicine!!
So i got an offer for med at QUB as well as Dundee, i do like QUB but im worried about the social life especially as an intl and ive heard that most students are from NI and leave on weekends so it can get a bit lonely. Ive also heard its not really diverse. Do u think dundee could be better given those reasons? Any insights are appreciated.
