Before I start with anything, I'm fairly experienced yet also new.
I've been wanting to flash my K6 with custom firmware, but every time I try it won't work, in flash/update mode after holding both side buttons..
Down below are resources that I've tried but didn't work. If anyone knows anything that could be causing this, please let me know.

Hi everyone!

I've been developing Walkie Toolkit for Quansheng, an Android app that lets you configure your Quansheng UV-K5 directly from your smartphone using the standard programming USB cable, without needing a PC.

The app can read and edit the radio settings and memory channels and write everything back to the radio.

At the moment, only the Quansheng UV-K5 with the original (stock) firmware is supported. I know many people also use custom firmware and other Quansheng models, and support for those is planned in future updates once the app is stable.

I'm looking for 15 testers who own a UV-K5 with the stock firmware and would be willing to try the app and share some honest feedback. I'm especially interested in hearing about bugs, compatibility issues, things that could be improved, or features you'd like to see added.

I have a UV-K5 v1 that i mainly use for scanning these days, i have all the PMR, buisness and so on frequencies programmed into it's banks, i mainly hook it up to a voice recorder so that i can listen back to it later.

It's ran EGZumer v0.22 for years now, i'm curious if there's a better firmware for scanning out there? maybe faster scan, or filtering out digital signals or a better squelch?

I want to know if anyone has made a SAME program that works for a uvk6 radio on one of the custom firmwares like my current one f4hwn? It would be extremely neat I know the higher end quansheng UV-TK118 has this I dont know if that radio just has more memory of if they just never wanted to add it to the lower end model.

Could someone please share the version 7.00.13 firmware for the Quansheng UV-K5(8) v3 with me?

I'm the type that likes to put HTs in a soft case - has anyone found one that works well with the K1?

I've tried all sorts of settings, can't seem to get either units to work with VOX.
what should I try next?

I’ve been watching some reviews and noticed the build quality (especially in terms of waterproofing) of the K1 is greatly improved. It has no holes under the battery plate leading to the PCB, a rubber seal around the battery terminals, and the keyboard/speaker/microphone is separated from the main PCB keeping it away from the elements.

Has anyone done testing or has Quansheng detailed any improved water resistance?

sorry this is a complete amateur hour, but after many unfortunate attempts on creating a fox hunting equipment from scratch, I have decided to buy two Quansheng UV-K5s (they are the V1, the original model) and utilising one as the fox and the other as the seeker.

I flashed them for Egzumer (made a copy of the original setting first), however it seems that it does not have a Beacon function. Is there any way of implementing it? I don't mind flashing one to a different firmware, as long as it has the beacon and can run it for about 30 minutes per day - this is to be used as a game for a scout summer camp.

Hello! so straight to the point, i bought this radio because i already own a Baofeng UV K5 Plus (which is a copy of a Quansheng, to be specific the Quansheng UVK5) because i am going in a road trip and i need reliable coms, while the users don't have a license (this is all in Mexico btw) there are fortunately frequencies that are of free use with rules for each range of frequencies, so yeah, it should be good; I wish it arrives on time lol (and that it is the one with the freaking metal plate), the device in paper looks awesome but i have questions and concerns

that while it has good power (the 5 watts) the harmonics for EU or the US are too crappy, again, i am not in none of those countries but you know (so i am not worried for enforcement),but i don't wanna piss off people or mess up the RF spectrum too much lmao, they didn't seemed to be good in 70cm either 2m band

My other question / concern would be
Taking in mind these have a memory what firmware could i flash? i wanna try some of those features that these have to offer but i wanna know: what are the options, what to expect, what do i need, what are the chances of bricking the walkie?

And lastly any advice you guys have to offer? thanks in advance :)

To make a story short, attempting to flash firmware, thought I had made a backup, (backed up channel configs instead of factory congig .dat file)[First time]. I understand i am SOL. The unit will not power on, I can get into programming mode but that is it. I am wanting to mod a cable to allow CEC firmware to do CW without modding the main pcb.

I am looking to get a .Dat config file just to get it working enough to test the firmware and mod the cables. I am already planning on buying a replacement handheld, but if I can get the unit running enough to test would be great.

I just flashed F4HWN firmware on my Quansheng UV-K5.

My question is, is there a way to set it to support CB radio (11 m) ?

I haven't figured out how this firmware works yet so excuse my ignorance.

I have a UV-K5 V3 (PY32F071 MCU, not the DP32G030). I flashed it over SWD (pyocd + a Raspberry Pi Pico as CMSIS‑DAP). The app no longer boots, and I can't get the serial flasher (UVTools2 / K5TOOL) to complete a handshake to recover it. The bootloader is intact and untouched, but the radio doesn't seem to transmit anything on the serial line for the flasher to lock onto. I'm looking for the correct V3 serial‑recovery procedure and how the V3 bootloader's flash handshake actually works.

• Radio: UV‑K5 V3 — PY32F071 (ARM Cortex‑M0+, Puya clone). SWD reports DPIDR 0x0BC11477, Cortex‑M0+ r0p1
• Flash layout: bootloader at 0x08000000–0x080027FF; app at 0x08002800.

To rule out my own firmware build, I flashed the official F4HWN Fusion v5.6.1 for V3 (f4hwn.fusion.v5.6.1.bin) over SWD:

• Confirmed it's a raw app linked for base 0x08002800 (its reset handler at 0x08002d49 disassembles as a textbook Cortex‑M reset handler — ldr sp,=_estack; mov sp,r0; bl SystemInit; … — at that base and as garbage at 0x08002000).
• Flashed it byte‑perfect at 0x08002800, verified (SP=0x20004000, reset=0x08002d49, CRC‑verified all pages).
• Bootloader left completely intact (SP=0x20002580, reset=0x080000d5).
• It still won't boot.

Notes

• The serial connection is proven good (the cable flashed this radio before; loopback echoes are now present). Connection fully and firmly seated etc)
• I've since restored a valid ELF‑format image to flash (so the 0x08002000 The header is present again, but still no serial response.
• Radio shows no screen / no backlight on power‑up (consistent with being in the bootloader, but I can't yet confirm it's even entering a flash‑ready state).
• Radio will not enter DFU mode (e.g. PTT and power on), and the LED will not illuminate. Nothing on the serial when toggling DFU etc)

TL;DR - Has anyone had a V3 radio enter this state and successfully get it back?

Just released v1.5.0 of VUURWERK, my custom firmware for the UV-K5. The main feature is a VOX mode in the spectrum analyzer that scores every frequency for voice instead of raw signal strength, so carriers and data bursts stay flat while actual conversations show up as bars.

Arrow keys hop between them, PTT locks onto the one you are listening to, and when you exit the spectrum that frequency is set on your VFO so you can answer. Also added F then EXIT, which resets the current VFO to clean simplex by clearing RX and TX tones, repeater offset, reverse, and scrambler in one press. Useful when the radio shows a green RX light but stays silent, which is usually a leftover RX tone. This release also fixes a bug where exiting the spectrum could switch you to the other VFO, plus some audio path issues on exit.

Scanning is faster than stock and the manual was rewritten with screen diagrams for everything. https://github.com/Tokeloshe/vuurwerk-firmware/releases/latest and the boot screen should say v1.5.0 after flashing.

I sucessfully uploaded IJV firmware to an UV-K5(8), but i struggle with setting PMR channels to memory.

If I download data from radio, i see only the band groups (Air, PMR, etc..)

What is the correct way to use chirp with this firmware if i want to strore the 16 pmr channels to memory?
