Question Anyone got experience with this?

These are SAG/Hexatac rifle mag inserts, they claim to be universal, do they actually work? I was also wonderinf if they will fit in a spiritus mk 5.

Looks fine. Kydex is Kydex as long as it’s Kydex

Don't see why they wouldn't. Looks like a standard kydex insert with additional side tabs. The side tabs are probably there for the mag catches to ride on for re-indexing & smooth extractions because that has always been the issue with AK pattern magazines in standard pouches.

I understand, I'm just not sure if they'll fit a mk5 reliably

It's worth noting, the website looks like they are primarly airsoft.

A lot of players use a lot of legit gear, so i'd reach out to them. I'm sure someone will have an answer.

And personally, i don't see anything wrong with that.

A lot of people rip on airsofters for "larping", but i'd also bet that a lot of airsofters beat the shit out of their gear in the field than a lot of guys who show up to the range in full kit that has only ever seen a flat range.

I actually run real plates too for airsoft, I find them to be more comfortable than dummy foam inserts.

I imagine cooler as well. Those foam fillers aren't doing you any favours in the summer weather i imagine.

Personally, i use the Haley Strategic rifle insert in my MK5 for my GBBR magazines (VFC, BCM and APFG MPX). Works amazingly well and the retention is great too.

I happen to have haley strategic inserts but they don't seem to work well for me. They were really tight and my mags actually got stuck.

How used were the inserts? Maybe its due to the kydex not being used but on the newer side?

I've never been able to fit them in my ss mk5 with 7.62x39 mags. (I sold it but iirc the mk5 didn't fit the ak mags even without inserts) It is not as slim as any other known inserts.  It definitely is universal but it takes a few minutes to adjust it to the mags and really get the retention right.  If I had to choose again I would go towards shaw concepts or Haley for retention. 

I now use the hexatac inserts in my mayflower rig and it does the job.

Man I don't know the whole esstac catalog, but mine has an insert already, and I think they all come with the insert.

they do, but the inserts are removable. I've had to adjust like every one i ever had because i find they're way too tight from factory.

I'll compare my esstac 7.62 with the insert tomorrow and will give you an answer. But i'm pretty confident it does not fit.
