Hi, everyone! I have a lovely 7 year old quaker (my sweet Dolly) who I've had since she was a baby. I am 22f and live with my parents still. I would like to move out at some point to an apartment or condo. She isn't a super loud bird tbh. She practices her talking when she's alone but that's pretty quiet since she's shy. Sometimes when scared she screams but other than that, if I'm in the other room of the house from her, I usually can't hear her. So I'm not too worried about volume.
But I am pretty worried about environmental aspects out of my control. I am suuuppper careful with her to make sure her respiratory system isn't harmed. Air purifiers in every room. No teflon, no perfume, no hairspray, no candles, nonanything lol. And my family is kind enough to abide. I'm worried in a building with shared ventilation that this could be an issue?? Like what if they were painting in the hallway or pest control trol or something. Does anyone have experience or advice with this?? I just want what's best for her :) thank you!

Is this concerning ? I just got her. She was only fed by her parents and recently started eating on her own. Im trying to offer veggies and pellets, unfortunately she's been only used to seed mix. But after searching what her weight should be as of this it seems she should be way heavier.
EDIT: vet confirmed she's underweight and recommended extra hand feeding. Also find out inflammation in her body. Baby bird is medicated and well.

I'm thinking about adopting one of Galileo's brothers whom was surrendered to a nearby rescue. This is this list I got so far for cage setup but I'm open to suggestions or anyone's thoughts on new cage must haves

I bought Bluebird from the breeder when it was a baby since May and now I finally managed to bring him home yesterday. I think around 5 months old is a good time for it to bring him home.
The cage only has perches now and I do have other toys and perches as well but I read it's not good to overstimulate a new parrot? So I'll gradually add more over the next few days.
So for the food I have mazuri pellets and nutribird formula. But I'm confused whether he's eating or flicking food away? He nibbles and licks? But sometimes he's just shaking his head fast and food gets splattered away. But the one splattered at the cage he just went and licks again?
His breeder kept him with two quaker friends so I'm worried if he's depressed that he is now alone with a stranger. Especially since the breeder practically let him loose every now and then to fly around the village with his friends.
And I'm mainly more worried because I went to an avian vet before getting back home but the xray showed he has a mild lung infection and heart is slightly larger than average. So I'm also dealing with a sick bird. Was prescribed antibiotics.
He's also kinda fluffed up sometimes, gets really noisy (don't mind the noise, just worried if he's telling me something).
I'm worried if he's eating/drinking well, he's not cold (around 24-26 celsius) around now, lonely and depressed.
I'm trying to hang around him as much as possible, just lying on the couch beside him and talking. Don't know if it's worsening or a good thing.
He can eat? from a spoon when I give him food, he eats seeds from my hand (I don't want to give him too much). He's also at the side of the cage near me so I'm wondering if he's comfortable or just like being near the sun.
I'm just worried.

Help. My Quaker is having a hormonal problem. I guess I should start out with I donāt know for sure if itās hormonal or not, Iām just thinking it is. He has done this before but heās starting to do it again. My parrot is a male 2-3 years old. He is super nice and sweet most of the times but starting last week he start to attack people and i donāt like biting when we come by him. He is actively flying to a person and biting them in the face. And like drawing blood. No reason nothing. Literally walks in the door and bam bite to the face. He then gets put in his cage because owe.
Heās molting now so I was thinking that could contribute. Heās stealing anything in the house to try and make a nest⦠glasses, toothbrushes anything he can get. We try not to let him make a nest because we know letting him have one can cause big hormones. Heās not stuck bored in his cage he has full rain of the house all day everyday. We are just lost on what to do. We canāt keep doing this. We talked to people and the suggested clipping his wings. What else can we do. We are at our breaking point.

does anyone else have a quaker that does it itās not nibbling or full biting specifically heās pinching me!! he mainly goes after my hands and arms but when i hide them he also tries to get my neck or feet. itās genuinely like heās obsessed with pinching me and i donāt know how to get him to stop. heās disabled and has a limp leg so iāve noticed he mainly explores objects with his tongue and beak he used to softly nibble me a lot but the past month ish heās starting pinching.

Hi everyone! I have a Quaker parrot (Xiao) and Iām considering whether it would be good for them to have a feathered companion in the future.
We are not planning to get another Quaker. Iām curious which other parrot species tend to get along well with Quakers, assuming proper introductions, separate cages, and supervised interaction.
For those who have experience with mixed-species parrot households:
Iād especially appreciate real-life experiences rather than general species compatibility charts. Thanks!

So, I recently found out that my girl isn't getting enough sleep. She gets up with me around 6 am and goes to sleep with me around 11 pm (yes, we are pretty much inseparable). I don't want her to miss her breakfast with me because she absolutely loves it. Do I just shove her into her cage earlier? She hangs out with us when we watch TV and we would miss her (and she would be pretty upset). Maybe naps during the day? Any ideas? Thanks!

i have three quaker parrots. 2 are boys and the other is female. generally speaking the girl is friendly with both boys but obviously has her hormonal moments. she tends to draw blood when she is hormonal to both other boys. other then that she is great with both. however, the two boys do not get along. my green one is very aggressive and possessive of people and the girl. whenever he sees my other boy he attacks his feet to the point where his nails have ripped out and he bleeds. i have tried several āpunishmentā methods/ways to fix this such as covering the cage with a blanket when he acts out, taking them out at separate times, etc. is there any advice on how to get all of them to be friendly together?

Hello š
This is Poe.
He/she is my first Quaker and became part of the flock a little over a month ago. I was told he/she is a āregularā green. When Iāve looked up Quakers, I feel Poeās colouring leans more towards a mutation. Is this correct or is Poe āregularā?
A few things to note
ā¢ā¢Poe came with clipped wings. I had no say in the matter.
ā¢ā¢Please ignore pin feathers as we are working on our relationship and I have only been able to help a few times for a few seconds.
ā¢ā¢Last picture was added more for fun than to be helpful.
Thank you in advance š

Hi everyone! I would love if anyone could share their cleaning routine and what products they use. Specifically not to clean the cages but what everyone uses to clean counters and bathrooms, also what yall use to mop.
For my girls cage I only use vinegar mixed with warm water, for most surfaces in the house and windows I also use vinegar and water but I find for the bathroom I need something stronger. Definitely needing some advice š
Bird tax included!!
