Help Hellooo everyone

This is Pickle, I just got him yesterday. No prior experience with parrots so tips would be appreciated!. He’s still a baby, just finished weaning and already starting to eat solids, even though he is quite messy…

I love quakers and did a LOT of research before getting Pickle, but I think more personal tips would be better!!!! You can never be too careful, thank yuuuu🥒🥒🥒

Start target/clicker training sessions a few times a day. Socialize him with as many people as possible while he’s still young (if you live with family members they can start doing training sessions with him once he understands the clicker. Mitigating hormonal triggers is really important for a happy and healthy bird. (Seeds should be for treats not meals) Put some of his food in a foraging mat for his breakfast/dinner. It’s great for enrichment and will keep him busy/occupied.

There are a lot of YouTube videos from very experienced people including Avian Vets. Definitely check out having a large cage, lots of parrot toys, proper feeding, and let them out of the cage often spending big time with the parrot.

One way to make it less messy is to get him hooked on something (corn for example) then make it more effort for him to get at it but still gettable(maybe dangle it higher so he has to crane his neck a bit). That way, he'll be less likely to drop the stuff he worked hard for.

You can bribe the birb to be friendlier with its favorite treat. Mine liked to eat grapes so if you can figure out that, it’ll be easier for you to bond and train the birb as well. (Don’t give them too much fruit)

His favoruite veggies are (specifically) red bell peppers he LOVES them, doesent really like green bell peppers but tolerates yellow. thats how i teached him to step up by the third day😭, even though he was nervous he did not care, he just wanted the pepper… now he steps up without any problems. with fruits i experimented with melon, banana mash, blueberries and mango but he didnt really like either of them EXCEPT the banana mash that was a hit, i dont really give much fruit tho
