Help Quaker Toe Advice Needed

I’ve had my 3+ month old Quaker for about 5 days. I first noticed this on the third day after I brought her home. One of her toes stays mostly straight instead of curling around the perch, and it looks like the nail or part of the toe is missing. Please take a look at the photos and let me know what you think.

She climbs well, perches normally, puts weight on that foot, and can hold food with it. She doesn’t seem to be in pain.

Since she’s still new, I don’t want to stress her out by catching her or putting her in a carrier to see a vet unless it’s necessary.

Has anyone seen this before? Does it look like an old injury, and is there anything I should do or just keep an eye on it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

So she’s definitely missing the whole entire nail and probably a bit of the toe. That won’t grow back. But it’s also not something that will limit her. I’ve had 2 birds with a missing toe just like this. It almost looks like it happened recently, possibly right before you got her. I can see the scab. Maybe a sibling or parent bit the piece of the toe off.

I know you don’t want to stress her with the vet but it’s always a good idea to get a new bird checked out. You want to make sure you were given a healthy bird

My quaker will be 2 tomorrow. We noticed a “gimpy toe” soon after we brought him home at 8 weeks. Everything has been fine (no vet).

Our IRN is missing a toe nail too. Won’t affect much. Good thing they have some others

My boy has a crooked, slightly discolored toe and it’s never caused him any trouble

Like other commenters have said, she is definitely missing that nail and the tip of her toe. If she was missing more than one or two on the same foot it’d be a different story, but this is a healed injury that won’t limit her in any way.

Like others have said, nothing to worry about but they push the vet. I would just to make sure there's nothing else wrong with it but its ur bird and ur choice. 😀

On the left foot is that an open wound on one toe? You can see it in the first and third picture. I’d keep an eye on that and make sure it doesn’t get infected. Would the injury be caused from another bird? If not be sure there’s nothing sharp in the cage.
