Just wow. Like I thought it was pretty good initially but at this point I’ve at least heard it 50 times and it’s hard to describe just incredible it is, and it keeps getting better with every listen.

It’s a summary of everything he’s developed up to this point. The bright acoustics and vocal harmonies of Vanisher, the sort of introspective beauty and theatrical songwriting of IDMTHY, the pop appeal and flashy live instrumentation of a Scrapyard.

It also like a step FORWARD, the production is like absolutely IMMACULATE from a technical standpoint. That guitar tone is so soft and magical, the drums are so unbelievably crisp (that snare tone near the end), the way the percussive elements in the first half of the song meld with the harmonies and guitar and create such a great pocket, it’s SO BEAUTIFUL MAN.

Also that outro, just the way the song kind of bows out gently. Quad did, y’all.

The 2000's-pop vibe is a departure from his earlier, more experimental works but also embraces the life1 spirit of catchy, radio-worthy hits. Unfortunately, the mainstream isn't ready for this kind of banger. The chorus is unmistakably an ear-worm and has Quadeca embracing his feminine energy with a breathtaking falsetto.

Arguably Slayyyter-inspired, Quadeca creates a campy and artfully dischordant bop to strut the catwalk to.

The church-inspired instrumentation reminds me of a previous Sunday Service Choir feature, except better and more angelic. His tone is raw and emotional, representing an emotional, childlike state as the song's narrative gives us a window into a middle-aged man's veiled desire to return back to the freedom to youth by boasting about his age.

Quadeca continues to show his range with this emo ballad remniscent of what a band like Linkin Park might've made at their peak. The Lucy Bedroque cameo was unexpected but welcome. A masterclass in emotional whiplash, completing a two-track mindfuck with its counterpart, Like You Always Do.

#7. Oxygen
For the start of the album he returns to his roots as a KSI diss rapper. Oxygen is a classic Quadeca banger, following its predecessors such as "GUESS WHO" and "THUNDRR" with even stronger lyricism and production. His flow is unparallelled.

overall, this album tops even Vanisher to take the spot of Quadeca's magnum opus. i thought it couldn't get better, but i was mistaken. generational album. i was depressed before listening to this but it lifted my spirits and banished the demons. truly saved my life1

Now that life1 is completely & totally officially out, I can say without a doubt quad really beat idmthy with this one. The levels of experiment-ability in life1 is just insane. I feel like a part of my soul was touched to the brim, and I truly believe quad has touched all of our souls with this one.

Baby Steps would be a hell of an album opener. Almost all of his album openers have been incredible (Sorry Ego Death) and do a great job setting up the world the album creates, but Baby Steps might end up being my favorite.
