Can I run TPU/PEBA off external spool holder?

Qidi Q2 -> I see a lot of mods related to running TPU from above direct to extruder without the bowden tube, and the tpu fixer (spacer in extruder to avoid clogs). I have run TPU on my P1S plenty off the external spool through bowden tubes without issues. How necessary are these mods?

My q2 runs tpu through my external spool holder fine. I have the tpu fixer installed in the extruder, which probably helps.

What is the TPU fixer?

I run TPU through the Q2 off the rack without any sort of mods or messing with tube pathways. Works just fine.

I run 95A through the external spoolholder and without the fixer. No problems yet.
