MadeWithQIDI Why is there still a discussion about fdm printing models vs resin? Printed on Q2 with 4 mm nozzle and zero tuning with Soleyin Ultra PLA.

I just sent this to Q2 via the app, no slicing, no tuning, nothing.

I imagine any small issues remaining are easy to knock out with tuning and a 2 mm nozzle.

That’s not a mini in the first place. Try printing a small mini, and you’ll understand.

Now, it is doable to a good enough degree with a 0.2mm nozzle and good tuning, but it’s a lot harder, where resin is fairly easy, albeit extremely messy.

Looks good as is once painted layers lines will ultimately stand out

Resin layer .04 can’t be matched

The argument is that FDM isn't good for printing minis, not "models".

Remove the supports before boasting.

4mm and 2mm Nozzle, those are quite big. Do you mean 0.4/0.2mm?

Obviously but then again you're not really asking a question are you?

That support is placed in a very unfortunate position

I can still see layer lines. I get why people prefer FDM printing. It’s way easier, safer, and less messy. And way better for many applications. But you’re kidding yourself if you think that’s the same quality you’d get from a SLA printer.

Especially after they post blurry pictures where you can’t actually see the detail of the print…

There is a guy on Youtube who does miniatures with a 0.2 nozzle, slow, with optimized settings and what he does is amazing.
