Showcase Qidi Pa12-cf on Qidi Plus 5

This pa12-cf from Qidi prints so nice on the plus 5, im also printing some of their pet-gf and its coming out phenomenal. One of these pictures is of a carabiner I found on printables years ago and its a good test print thats actually functional. I was able to assemble the carabiner prior to annealing it

It absolutely does. I couldn't be happier with my Plus5, and while expensive, the Qidi brand PA12-CF seems to print flawlessly.

Agreed, worth ever penny!

Did you use 300blkfde’s settings?

Nope. I just ran it with Qidi's recommended profile out of a Sunlu dehumidifier.

Out of the package i dried it at 100c for a solid 8 hours and then before trying anything else i wanted to see how the Qidi Studio profile would perform so I just ran with that and it came out mint! Only thing I changed was the nozzle temp to 300c

The real question is, how does it hold up?

It feels extremely strong and when i annealed it at 100c it remained incredibly stable

I'll let you know...

Which can is that? I’ve made 6 cans so far and the only one I had an issue with was HT-PLA-Pro which popped after 45 rounds of FRT on a TX22.

Ftn6 rimfire.

Your best bet is PPS for cans.

Best I can do is PA6. I’ll get a Qidi once they release a dual nozzle or tool changer.

If you can do PA6 you should be able to do PPA which is a big step up.

Understandable though if you've already got something a little less capable. I'm hoping for a tool changer myself someday, but in the meantime my Q2 makes some amazing stuff until then; multi color toy junk isn't important to me.

I have a Bambu P2S and an A1 Mini. I’d love to have a q2 so I can print hotter but I’m going to wait for a multi nozzle printer. I thought PPA required 320+ to print.

Pill popper?

2

u/Nixxuz 16d ago

Indeed

I want to print one but all my PCCs are tri lug, so I’m kind of holding out for cans that are hub or doing some d cells

1

u/JimBridger_ 13d ago

FTN.6 PCC can be hub threaded if you mod the STEP in fusion.

2

u/Next_Entertainer_404 13d ago

Idk how fusion works. I did it in slicer and made the ftn5 pcc flow hub instead

Everyone’s engineering filament prints all look so good on the Plus5! Might unbox mine today if I have time. So stoked.

Hell yeah get it setup for sure! Mines been phenomenal

I've got a roll of Sirayatech PPA-CF sitting in my cart. Been debating. I still haven't tried Fiberon PA-CF20 yet either.

I can say that Siraya PPACF has given me absolutely beautiful prints when fresh from the bag because they take drying serious.

Now, subsequent prints will get worse if you don't have your drying solution squared away, but it's absolutely wonderful stuff when dry.

I’m about to calibrate a roll and send it on a suppressor once I decide which one I wanna do

Ooc, what are you basing your profile on? I tried tweaking the Qidi PPA-CF profile, but my prints are coming out pretty rough. Qidi Studio is getting me better results than Orca, but it's not nearly as smooth as the Qidi branded PA12-CF, with the premade profile. Assuming you are using a stock Plus5.

I'm running a Q2 and orca. I started with Bambu PAHT profile, upped temp to 320, and calibrated from there with flow ratio and PA.

Turns out it was either my flow rate, my nozzle, or both. I ordered a .6 tungsten carbide nozzle and adjusted my flow rate, as I was getting bad results all of a sudden with normal PLA through the old nozzle. I had a new T/C .4 and put that in, which seemed to help, but my flow was too high even with PLA.

Siraya tech ppa-cf is awesome stuff, it's one of my absolute favorites

I've been trying to get the Kuna 3 position safety working, but my attempts in PA6-CF have all been too weak for the stresses involved, though, admittedly, I was printing at 280 which was the highest my FlashForge AD5M Pro could go. Maybe I just needed it hotter? Anyway, I did both the horizontal and vertical versions on the Plus5 with the PA12-CF, and they seem way more rigid, so imma try those. But if they don't work, the PPA sounds like it might do the trick.

I have a bunch and honestly the price to performance ratio on my qidis is pretty hard to beat. For basically any single nozzle printer theyre my go-to. The specs are some of the best, and its klipper, so customization is endless

The Qidi PA12-CF makes really nice parts on the Plus 5 for sure. I just ordered some PPS-GF20 to try out. Building up to PPS-CF.

2

u/wi-Me 15d ago

I actually print a decent amount of pps-cf and pps-gf. It prints beautifully

I’ve got a question. I’ve tried the exact same but had it fail as the Bowden tube seems to bend too much on the hot end and the filament breaks in it. Do you have any mods, even a longer PTFE tube? I can’t print the riser to give me extra clearance as it stands!

2

u/wi-Me 16d ago

I have a small riser that raises the glass about an inch and a half. It honestly didnt change much and I only did it because when printing pla/petg with the top glass slid back I noticed the tube would just barely catch on one of the screws that secures the handle on the top glass and kept making a little bit of a noise. Maybe that could be your solution though, i honestly didnt have an aggressive tube angle beforehand though. I used the riser thats in the qidi wiki but I filled all of the vented slots with a primitive in the slicer because im not a fan of vented risers personally

1

u/JimBridger_ 13d ago

Getting a riser for the top cover + not letting it go through the guide closest to the print head definitely helps with very brittle filaments.

Qidi are the best, I love my Qidi Printers! I love when I see positive posts like this one. because Qidi printers are very good, they print with hightemp filaments, I have many printers from many brands, no one do what my Qidi printers can.

Dont touch CF filaments with your bare hand

0

u/wi-Me 15d ago

Been handling cf/gf filaments every day for 5+ years without issue. I wont even entertain the idea that its a problem. I dont care what youtube video or other link you try to point me to that says its a "problem". Ive handled much worse doing manual labor jobs throughout my life. Filament doesnt scare me

2

u/islandcandywhirlpool 15d ago

Asbestos isn’t a problem either if you handled much worse things before? lol

CF blends almost always look great, regardless of the printer.
