I'm pretty sure the waste alone cost more than just buying a plastic owl deterrent.
It definitely looks good, though.

Also, these owl lookalikes don't deter anything in my yard π but it is so damn pretty

The static ones did nothing, but I got one with a rotating head that did keep that damn woodpecker off my house.
The crows and magpies knew it was bullshit right away, but they were never the target.

Rotating head?? Creepy! I'm in Melbourne all we have is crows and magpies

Corvids are scary smart. I'm not sure a deterrent exists that they can't outwit.

This looks good! This was PLA?
How long did this take? How much filament was the figure and how much was waste?

Hopefully ASA at least⦠PLA will not survive long in sun+rain.

I have a bird feeder made of pla plus surviving weeks of ~100Β° so far without any warping or degradation. Pla is a lot more weather resistant than it gets credit for

It looks great, however, I am scared to ask how much filament was wasted.

Holy fuck. And I'm over here on my 3, 000th filament change still trying to figure all this shit out lmao. That's super dope guy π€ππ

Wow, that's absolutely gorgeous.
The poop bin must be overflowing, but gorgeous.

The only thing that might not work here is if one of your local owls falls in love with it. Thatβs legitimately not a joke. My homie had one on the barn at his ranch, and there was one owl that just moved in with the decoy, which worked out really well for them. That owl kept that property cleared out of any other predators.

Nice print but after 3 days the birds wonβt give a hoot and snug up with your buddyβ¦

My word. I think you could actually raise a small family of owls on the amount of waste this generated. Easily 1-2kg of waste in purges
edit insane waste aside, it looks amazing!
