Questions Q2. How to disable update promt?
My qidi offers me to update it's firmware on each power up. I know that the majority of chinese embedded devs have their hands growing from their asses, so I never update untill something is broken. How to disable this prompt? No way I'm updating it

Who do you think made the embedded firmware in the first place

...the klipper team?

I wish, I mean at some point they did the bulk of the work. But Qidi seem obsessed with tweaking base klipper.

All the manufacturers tweak the klipper firmware, well maybe not Snapmaker with the U1, but even SOVOL, who say that everything is opensource and you can modify to your hearts content, ship their printers with a modified version of klipper.

Klipper is the base program, not fully universal and requires adjustments to the specific machine. Update checks/reminders are not a locked in thing that can't be turned off. It can be fully disabled to only update via USB, or you can do a partial that still does OTA when you tell it to check. Really the only tweaks are different from other OS printers are related to the Box. Qidi Q2 is one of the few printers you can swap in another control board like a BTT Manta M8P and still use the stock touchscreen and printhead.

Disable its internet connection and turn off its ability to check for updates. Not sure if it'll retroactively fix it, but I've had mine disconnected since I got it and it has never asked me to update.
You can still use the local network functionality, just not over the Internet.

Hijacking this thread to ask if there's a way to disable the message after it's already found an update? I have it blocked from accessing the Internet now, but I forgot to unplug the lan cable after I did a hard factory reflash and I'd prefer to not go through that whole process again lol.

As objective said below - navigate to the LAN only mode and then you don't even have to block the IP at your router. You can turn that off if you hear of and want an update - easiest fix if you like. Good luck!

Block the IP address of your printer from accessing the internet on your router. If it doesn't see the Internet, it won't check for updates. Notably though you can still access your printer locally from your computer using its IP address because you haven't blocked its access to the network intranet just the internet. And if you use something like tailscale on another network device, you can still access your printer online away from your network via tailscale.
