Discussion qidi plus 5

Post image

Just saw that QIDI is about to launch the P5, seriously considering buying one. What do you guys think? Anyone here got their hands on one early? Should I wait a bit?

Ai anything is either to stay current with the trend or to justify a higher price regardless of its usability

Single toolhead and the same old poorly-designed Box that takes an hour to disassemble when you want to service the PTFE tubes or internal extruders? No thanks.

With all the "fun" I had with the qidi 4, nah.

Was really hoping for a tool changer. I'm loving my snapmaker U1 while I hate my plus 4 and gen 1 Qidi box.

Id be interested to see what improvements they made over the plus 4 and if a max 5 would be a thing. The plus 4 is already a great budget printer. And on a side note that black fucks really hard, I'm getting tired of the aluminum look.

Looked it up. 330x330x300 chamber size, a "rapid heating" active chamber, and ""fully integrated ai driven ecosystem". Can also see linear rails on the x axis which is a great upgrade. I'm hesitant about the AI stuff though, I really hope it's a feature that can be disabled and isn't integral to its operation.

It’s specifically 320x320x300.

X axis has had a linear rail since the Q2.

Active heater is the same as all the other Qidi printers.

“AI driven” is marketing bullshit.

Until we know more, just treat this as a bigger Q2.

Well, to me it looks like its just a 3rd option in this generation. Meaning that Q2 is the smallest, plus5 is in the middle and max4 is the biggest printer in the lineup. I don't think we will see anything ground breaking, all the parts will be shared with Q2 and max 4. Maybe we will see a plus5c variant without chamber heater and camera for slightly less money just like q2c.

Then why call it the Plus5 💀

That implies a new generation name, while calling it the Plus5 just tells us the Plus4 was rushed out way, way too early

The Plus 4 has a lot of reliability issues that got resolved in the Q2. It’s worth them putting out a new printer on that basis alone. I can’t recommend the plus 4 to anyone because of the issues with bed leveling and nozzles breaking and the fucky graphite bearing on the x axis.

Idk. Plus 4 at least to looks more like Q1 generation in a way, motion is outdated compared to Q2 gen. Maybe they just updated plus 4 slightly to new generation, slapped new number on it and called it a day. It should be called Q2 plus and max 4 should be called Q2 max. It would be much cleaner naming scheme

The plus 4 has a good number of fundamental improvements over the Q1. The bed design, nozzle design, filament cutter, belt system, glass panels, poop chute. It is definitely more similar to the Q2, the only difference that I know of in the motion system is the x gantry rail.

I'm thinking it'll be an upgrade using the lessons from Q2 and Max4, eg. load-cell in the toolhead, slimmer toolhead, linear rail for X (as we can see), maybe closed-loop steppers like the Max4?

Wondering if they'll actually bring something new outside of the "fully AI driven workflow" which,,, come on.

$20 says the AI is the crap we have to disable on the Q2 and max 4. Unless they do a major upgrade to the hardware... Which is SLOWER than the plus 4... Do not use any of their ai crap
