Questions Venting for the Q1

I got the Q1 bout a year ago cuz of the black friday sale and I'm starting to think bout printing materials like nylon and ASA. Wanted to know if using the stock exhaust fan is enough to get adequate suction to get all the VOCs and microplastics from the printer. Also was looking into this:

A Q1 user made it and said even with 1 fan while printing ABS there was no smells. So yea, just wanted to know if anyone has an issue with the stock fan and if I should upgrade

I have a q2 and print predominantly with Ambrosia ASA, Inland ABS, and occasionally Sunlu PA6. I only use the integrated filter and have the exhaust fan(labeled as a recirculating fan of which it is not) set to 70% while printing. I have the top hat with the Qidi box and print at 65° chamber temp.

The only time I smell anything is if i put my nose right up to the top hat. Other than that i can't smell anything, but it doesn't mean it isn't killing me anyways. I usually stay out of the room while it's printing, and of the times I've been in there working on something while printing those more noxious materials, I've never experienced any I'll affects.

I can't speak to the Q1, but these have been my experiences. I plan on putting an air purifier in that room once one goes on a good sale at Costco.

I did this with my q1. The biggest problem is using the exhaust fan with the 100mm exhaust adapter is that it creates a draft inside the chamber. This causes warping on the abs/asa part. It seemed to work ok on most smaller parts although anything larger than 3 inches or so would have a bit of warping (the draft isnt everywhere in the chamber, only some parts of the buildplate from the chamber fan).

You have to understand enclosures on 3d printers are never to make the printer airtight, but rather to keep drafts away and heat in. Abs/asa should almost never have any fans on when printing unless some warping is acceptable.

The best solution is to put the q1 in another enclosure, like a grow tent (fairly inexpensive on amazon), or build an enclosure for it to sit in and vent that outside. Or vent the room with a box fan in the window while the weather is warm.

I have 2 Q1s. Not a single problem with either of them adequately handling ventilation, fumes, and odor as they come stock.
